That's a little better thanks. I'm ready to see more photos. I hope everything works out and Baja and Fountain stay around for a long time.

I second that. MAJOR CHEAP looking. How many dealers will be fighting on that one 30 outlaw? Where are those 250 employees Reggie lied to Governer of North Carolina about? |

I hope Reggie will sell some dash panels and other parts so if we want to upgrade our current rides.
|
Reggie buys the same gauges as Baja did and stamps his own panels, they are nothing special, call Livorsi if you want a panel upgrade, save yourself the headache.

If you go back just a short while you will find a lot of posts where I supported Reggie but this whole Baja / Brunswick / Fountain / North Carolina WELLFARE deal has really pissed me off. He can build a good boat but the corners he is cutting already on the Baja line like the bow rail, gel graffics etc just make me very proud that I have a "BEFORE FOUNTAIN" Baja. I personally would stay far away from that new product. |
I wonder if all that new stainless will increase the price at all. If a 23 is priced at 83K I wonder what the 30 will be priced at----maybe 125K or 130K :party-smiley-004:------------------- ok maybe a tick more

I dont get that new bow rail.....when I look at it compared to my bow rail I wonder wtf were they thinkin?

That's funny right there now! I bet he got a hell of a deal on a bunch of junk trailers when he bought all the dune buggy steering wheels.

Bow rail looks the same as what baja used on 38 specials & what fountain uses on theirs.
Cafes have the best looking bow rails...oh wait they dont have one. :party-smiley-004: As far as graphics, the best looking bajas were custom painted anyway. if the paint quality out of the factory is as good as fountains, i dont see the issue. my 97 baja had gel graphics which faded. heck if you look at the top of the line boats; cig, outerlimits, donzi, etc they all are painted. only the lower quality boats are using gel graphihcs. |

Mine is paint..... yeah it looks great, but I have a few rock chips ( from towing) that I never had on my previous boats ( that were in-gel graphics) |

No, but I have been living on a 36ol in Attica OH. the last couple days surrounded by corn fields. I will make sure to stuff some corn in the cabin before it is returned to its owner....:evilb: |

I talked to a dealer today and they told me the first 30 has already been water tested and ran 82 with ho engines.
|
Baja by Fountain.......BOO!!!!!!!!!!!:angry-smiley-038: :Whatever: :hitfan:
|
Wow, mixed emotions here?
Lets see yes the 30 OL ran 82mph first run out. Rails well love them or hate them, everyone has an opinion (personally I don't like rails on a boat at all, or hatches for that matter! and yes we have ordered them like that). As for the first 26,23,30, and soon 278 and 277 are at Fountain they are keeping one of each model built until the dealer meeting, you know so Baja dealers can see them and inspect them. Fountain is experimenting with the boats to improve them, OK all you all see is the rails!, what you are not seeing is the diff drive heights, drive ratios, Labbing of props, Moving the batteries just to gain .5 mph!! As for ingel graphics, yes it is sad to see them go, but look at the new Fountain Paint, looks great. As for prices, well compare to what a Formula, Donzi, Sunsation, AT, cost, seem like a hell of a value!! In conclusion I will be at Norfolk VA boat shgow this weekend if anyone wants to come by and say hello. Sincerely WILL:drink::ernaehrung004: |
Will,
You are a true gentlemen and represent the brand well. Good luck this weekend and I look forward to coming up and meeting you one day. I'm sorry that this thread got hijacked and off topic. As for speeds I saw 80.3 on the GPS of one of our members 30OL with HO's back last year at LOTO. It was a Hawkeye boat that was proped RIGHT. It also had fuel and four people on board. Based on that I do not find Reggie's speed all that good considering they run one person, 1 gallon of fuel and with the current. Take care Dock P.S. How many Baja's could have been built and sold if Brunswick had not dumped the company? How many dealers would have had extra $$$ in their pocket instead of promises? How many could already have been produced if Reggie had kept production in Bucyrus? How many could have been produced if he had been serious about hiring some of the key Baja folks to join him? How many engines and drives would Mercury have built and delivered if Baja was still at the top of it's game? |
Thanks for the updates Will! It is a little tough getting good info out of the Fountain camp. I will be there Oct 5 th to see the operation for myself.
Dock, Darrals boat does run hard. I have set up (sold) a couple 30's like his and have seen similar results. The real test will be if the 30 feels comfortable at 80 plus with the Fountain set up. I applaud Fountains R/D on the new Baja's set up. I think at times boats were sent out of the Ohio plant that could have used more thought! I guess I'll chalk it up to job security for me! |

I heard that the prices are about 8% more than last year and the options are about the same. Some of the packages may be a little differnet. The 30 outlaw with ho engines base price with no options I was told wil be about $178,000.

windscreen looks a little different to me???maybe taller and split in the middle????near top

The windscreen looks to me like it does not have a split all the the way down the middle, only the top half is split. It is taller in front of the driver and passenger with an added curl upwards. Something like the 25 Outlaw windscreen, just more obvious.

OUCH!!! I priced out a 07 with HO's SST and every option you could get and it was only 154k with the trailer. That was out the door prices so in 2 yrs with a poor market they've went up 24,000 thats insane...You guys can bag on me but at those prices I don't see many selling...And considering they aren't any better prepped than what Hawkeye has been putting out for years...Not much R&D IMO they would've had alot better boat had it stayed with the former producers and employees and might've had something to sell considering there should be boats on the showroom floor already...FAJA better step up they're game or I'd say its curtains for FAJA. After seeing what Baja put out with Split Decisions Reggie and Fountain ain't got nothing on them...
Well said irishtornado. When given the time and resources we could build as good a boat as anybody (See: Split Decision). Unfortunately being the "affordable" performance boat does not allow you to add all the extra bells and whistles and performance test EVERY boat that comes down the line AND still price it affordably to sell. Especially when Brunswick's got Mr. Burns running us off a cliff. Not to mention (I know some may be shocked lol) not everyone wants a customized boat with a raised "X" that will get an extra 4 miles an hour or whatever. Case in point: the last production boat that came down the line. I'm sure some of the other guys can shed light on that debacle (pain in the rear). I wish them luck, but they probably will fight an uphill battle to sell these boats in this market if they are priced that high. |

I did 3 Poker Runs this summer with Jason and Hawkeyes SPLIT DECISION. Ive never seen a boat draw that much attention, even at Lake of the Ozarks where all the big players were out. I heard it was even crazier at Cumberland a weekend or 2 ago! |
Everyone at Cumberland was going nuts over Split Decision. I took a bunch of pictures of it my self. also Teambaja check your ebay questions.
