I lucked out and found this one for a steal!

Was in the market for one and had been talking to HaulinVols who is also a Jeep freak and thought I would buy a TJ and put one of my 500 EFI motors in it.

Then I found a young fellow who was going in the Navy and had this one that he wanted out from under fast. He had invested over $20K in it and lets just say I got it for the price of the lift kit and the wheels and tires! It was on eBay with no reserve and no one bid against me!

Wally you got a great deal for sure. I'm usually not on the right end of the deal on eBay but I got very lucky twice recently. My first great deal was a 100% complete paint set off an 08 Harley Street Glide which included the front and rear fender, the outer fairing, the fuel tank, the two side covers and both hard bags complete with lids. This was taken off a brand new bike so a custom numbered Harley paint set could go on and I got everything for $1200.00 plus $120.00 in shipping. I have it up at Kustom Kolors right now getting a trick paint job done on it. I will put it on my bike when Clayton is finished. It was all pearl white in color and we are adding Orange and Silver in a really cool design that Clayton came up with.

sure looks like a dana 35 in the rear view picture to me. lota work to narrow them up too, cause they are same width as jeep not 3/4 ton width. nice jeep though

320es 11-18-2008 06:44 AM

I have to agree. Defiantely looks like a dana35 to me. 3/4 ton axles aren't 5 lug either. Still a nice jeep.

WOTW2E 11-18-2008 07:33 AM

Hey dock, welcome back to the jeep family. Here is some shots of my old junk. The boat would look good going down the road behind this.

74 CJ-5 I did a spring over conversion and swaped in Scout 2 Dana axles. 2.5 inches wider per side, 4.27 gears and a powerloc in the rear.
http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/q...epsept1992.jpg

I wanted more height and stability so I swapped to taller springs and went to wider 3/4 ton axles heavy 44 up front and a corp 14 in the rear
http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/q...2e/fall934.jpg

Then all hell broke loose. More spring arch, more lift, a built 406 and 44s. This thing is still in my basement in various pieces. I will get it back out some day.

WOT

You are the man that is a wide and crazy Jeep!

I'm glad to be back in the family for sure it's been too long and I don't plan to be Jeepless again.

I had a 78 CJ5 with with a factory 304 that was basically stock and very rough. Then I had a 1984 CJ7 Renegade that I wish I had never sold. That was a great Jeep. Then I found a new 1989 that the dealer wanted to get rid of real bad because the folks buying wanted the 4.0 fuel injected instead of the 258 carb six and I had that Jeep looking very nice and was able to get almost all my money out of it. A couple of years later I bought a V-8 Upcountry Cherokee which was nice but just not the same as the short wheel base open top bad boys.

Take care

Dock

Good catch! It went from Old Mil to Budweiser to Mountain Dew. I did not need any MORE reasons to piss off the State so I went to a non alcoholic drink. This was driven on the street every weekend and occasionally through the week. Good memories for sure.

I've shown alot of lifted trucks I've built over the years. I have always noticed trucks and jeeps through the years and somehow remember them. Can't tell you what I ate 2 days ago, but can remember 4X4's. Are you still in Swingfield? I run my boat once a year at Buckcreek Just to check things before I take it to Cumberland.

Nope. Medina now. Family is still in Springfield and that is where I store the boat through the winter. First and last run of the year is always on CJ Brown res. :ernaehrung004:

Well you have a bad a$$ FORD truck that is lifted with big tires. What is there to understand? We can just go places you can't with the smaller overall size and the shorter wheel base.

Artie,

Be careful that short wheelbase of the Jeep towing a boat that large will get you hurt.

Well I took the wife out to dinner Tuesday night in the Jeep. That was the first time she has really riden in it except for on our property.

I got it up to 65 and she got the full experience of the straight dual exhaust out of the hopped up 304 and the music from the 37 inch tires!

At just 5'4" I have to push her up in it and help her out but I think she likes it.

I got a chance this afternoon to spend a little more time with it and I took both door panels off and changed the lock cylinders out with new ones that work and lubricated all the entire door lock assembly. Then I installed new window cranks and arm rest on each of the doors. Then it was to the tail gate where I changed out the lock cylinder to match the front doors.

Then I pulled off the old front seat belt assemblies that were a pain in the butt and replaced both of them with complete new assemblies.

The kid that owned the Jeep put this really cheap window film on all the windows. I pulled it off the front doors and the back hatch glass. It was easy to remove the film but it took a full hour with a rag and acetone to get the glue off the glass. The windows look like new now and you can actually see out of it.

There are few mechanical issues to address including getting the windshield wipers working properly, fixing the park brake and replacing a gasket on the inspection plate of the Dana 300 transfer case which has a very small leak.

I took it for a little cruise before dinner tonight behind the house and tried out the low range again and that bad boy has some major torque and climbed a steep bank and then came back down it like nothing.

I really want to keep this one but if something good does not happen with this economy soon she may be on the market.
