Launched at PYC on LKN at 11AM.
Jeff "SteelOutlawed" was on board and we ran with Mike "Socalstone" and his buddy CJ who were in Mike's 26 OL with a 600 Merc.
After getting some oil temperature and checking that everything was good we made a speed run. The air temp was right at 80 degrees but the water temp is still cold around 50 degrees. I had a full load of fuel (Dumb), and the water was fairly flat. The best speed we saw with the stock 32 pitch props at 5500 RPM was 88.1 MPH on a hand held GPS that Jeff was in charge of operating.
This is with 75 gallons more fuel and a second person since the last time I ran the boat.
I think my water leaks have actually been coming from the sand strainers and we tightened them up on the water but they still need some attention. Also I have a very slight oil leak on the starboard engine and a little larger leak on the port side. Of course a little oil makes a real mess and when coupled with the water.
A buddy that is a mechanic got onboard to check it out and thinks the oil is coming from the valve covers. He plans to come over to the house and help get these two issues resolved.
On the boost pressure gauges I'm seeing 5PSI.
A little tweeking on the props and we should be easily in the 90's with fuel fuel which is where I want to run.
The engines are awesome and pull like a son of a gun from 65 to 85+. The outdrives Dick built are hanging in there very well so far and it is really hard not laying into those throttles with all that power at hand.
The hull handles the extra speed with no issues at all.

I had a new bracket for the power steering reservoir made that is three inches taller than the one we had on there and it apprears that this may have solved the problem getting the air out of the steering since it moved the reservoir higher than the pump.
Thanks to Sonny at Deal Machine for making the bracket and thanks to my good friend Rodney "Spittin Kitty" for polishing it.

Doc, back in post 91, you show your drives. Any closeups of the caps and what brand are they?
Thanks
Thanks

More good news as far as you progress.
I still am thinking you need to try labbed 34s to see what happens with them. Am thinking about the same RPM as now with added speed. Not real sure how high you want to go RPM wise.
Keep us informed!

They did not meet Dick's specifications on tolerances however and he did just a little machining and fine tuning to them when he set up the drives.

With the limiters set at 5750 you will or should be on them after labbeing the 32s I would think.
Lets see: Labbed 34s at 5500 at the present slip % = approx. 93.67 MPH. NOW if you could turn them at 5750 you are at 97.93 MPH using your present slip #s.
I have not said anything up till now but in the begining I was thinking in the 94 to 96 range based on other sources, info, and guesses.
You are well on your way my friend!

Dock,
I think that you will only be @ 5650 (max) on RPM's by labbing the 32's. Have them cupped to 33's like we did on Pokerface. A Merc Rep. had told me at one time that the 34 series Bravo props were never good performers for some reason. The same is true on the 25 Mirage Plus.....for some reason certain sizes don't perform as well?
Also, I know this is off-topic but we are sending you a gallon of PURE Ohio sweetness. Lane, and his brother along with a half dozen friends make this every spring. It takes on average 65 gallons of Maple sap, boiled-off to make just one gallon of syrup.
