01 272 top speed guess
Hey guys my 01 272 currently has a 454 mag and i get around 64mph with a mirage 23p, my custom N/A 582 ci is almost completed(it been a way over budget project). The motor was built to be around 650hp, my question is whats your guess on my new MPH, obviously some prop tuning is going to have to happen, but i am hoping for at least mid 70's what do you guys think. Anyone built up a 272 lately?

OK 650HP I would start with a Bravo 26 then move to Bravo 28, or try a Hydro 26 and Hydro 27.
Plan on rpms around 5400 for best results, let us know how testing goes.

Mine is a Procharged 515". I doubt I have that much HP. I run a stern Jack and Hyd steering. I haven't run with my new set up but @4500 rpm without getting in the boost I ran 74( 30 P 4 blade) this year. I hope to see 90 in boost. I ran 86 the summer before on a 509" PC. Steering definitely needed because of chine walk.

Once i get the motor put in i will plan on getting the steering done along with some longer trim tabs, i would have sold the boat but since boat prices have dropped so badly i figured i would just keep it and build it up. Thanks for all the input guys if you have any more let me know. I should be off to the dyno in the next couple of weeks

We had an 01 272 and loved it.
I would add the steering and tabs while the engine is out it will be much easier.
You should be in the 80's for sure.
Best of luck with it and keep us posted.

I had a 272 with a blueprinted bottom ( almost a must at that speed ).
Im gonna guess 83-85,,,, lil more if you have the hook taken out and your edge sharpened
