Yea.....finally boating in the North East!! :drink::drink:

I've been busy......working on my junk, and spousal duties, and riding around in other peoples boats:drink:

That riding in other people's boats thing can be fun, but I get too much beer in me doing that.

Just busy racking up hours on a new boat and sucking down some gasoline. With no off season, speed-enhancement projects will probably just get pushed off just like the last boat.

.....not that there's anything wrong with that:drink:

Other than I go t!ts up by 3pm & miss out on the rest of the day.
I packed 10 beers last Saturday for all day. Started at 11:30 & was out by 2. I think I need a pace car.

JT, you took off awfully early Saturday, I did'nt think you had that much to drink.

It's early in the season, you probably don't have
your tolenances built up yet ;)


They made me ride around in this last Sat.

They made me handle the truck and trailer duties,
made me deal with all lines and bumpers, and
even made me sit in one of the back bolsters,

hey guys, newbie here to OSO, need some fuel system help with my 05' 496HO b1x w/140hrs. I have a custom 3.5psi Procharger on my 25OL, custom because I relocated it. In the OL from the center of the crank pulley to the stringer is 16.5", the stock procharger sits 19"-20" off the motor, that would have meant alot of cutting, no thanks. So I relocated it above the stringer and used a 68" belt, works good so far with no cutting. Anyhow I need advice on a fuel system and ECU, does the ecu need a reprogram for low boost setups? I'm staying with low boost, I don't have alot of faith in the 496 so until I tear it down and throw some forged stuff in, it'll be 3.5psi for now. The 05' 496's have the cool fuel box with the pump, filter, separator, and cooler all in one with no return line, is this useable? or scrap it? I hear the ATI regulator is trash too, so I need advice on pumps, regulators, coolers, and fuel rails if I need them. I've got a water pressure, fuel pressure, boost and a EGT gauge along with the procharger. Here are a few pics of my OL and procharger build. Thanks fellas. Stan.

Oh, got a new aluminum swim step for my boat. Freshly powder coated and ready to go. Hope to get it on in the next couple weeks. Anyone want a fiberglass one?

Replace cup holders with new aluminum, except for the passenger front one. Have to remove the grab handle to make enough room to slip in the cup holder. The handle is blind screwed and I'm a little hesitant to pull off the padded side panel to gain access. Don't know if it's just glued on or what.

What else? Oh, polished my props again.

I put some labbed 26 Bravo's on the boat, just need some motors to spin them now. . just kidding they are doing fine.

Pulled the swim platform off the boat and replaced my steering hoses. Sun is hard on parts, swim platform was turning pink and the hoses were wrecked. Guess I should get a longer slip at the next place. Going to try white on the platform this time to reduce the sun fade and make the boat look longer! :drink:

Hmmm. I was hoping more. On another note, what do you guys think of the whipple kits for the 496. I thought that, and my labbed props may get lucky and hit 78-79?

Brand new 496 HO's were on the market last year for under $8K. I saw several advertised and could not believe how low they were priced.

As with anything they are only worth what someone is willing to pay. You may find a buyer for more $$$.

Talk to Bobby Todd aka "Crayola Crazy" about the Whipples on the 496. He has done it twice now and I think if he could go back to square one he would have build complete new motors.

Buy or build another set suited for what you
want to accomplish.

Get the $$$ out of the 496's while you can.

Supercharging them makes them pretty much
worthless in the eye of a potential buyer.

A friend of mine has a pair of pro-charged 502mpi's
in a 36 O/L, that he's trying to sell, and he cant even give the boat away......every one is scared of the engines/superchargers.

I just bought a set of 2008 496 HO's and the 5-8k range mentioned is way low. AL I could find in that range were motors with 400-500 hours. I ended up with a set of take outs from the LOTO area. Actually got to meet the pevious owner at a Poker Run a couple weekends ago. Crazy world!

I always said if I won the lottery Id buy a fleet of 20 Outlaws for my friends to race from one end of Cumberland to the other.

Now if I win I think I'll buy a new Hammer X and with a custom paint job consisting of the back end being painted like a bare butt and the rest of the boat could be jeans and a chick bending over.

I doubt that will happen. I give a sh!t if it does, but I really have that attitude about almost everything in life. If something happens, I just roll with it.
