Just an FYI that may save you a scare.
Went to start my 496ho's yesterday in the driveway on the hose. This was the first start of the year following normal winterization. The first motor would not start. It would turn over and sputter like it wanted to start but just wouldn't fire up all the way. Just for the hell of it I opened the capt-call exhaust. Previously it had been closed so as to not shake up the folks nextdoor. On the next click of the key, the motor fired right up as if it had been started just yesterday. Needless to say, for the next motor I opened the exhaust from the start. That motor started on the first key turn. Lesson learned - open the capt call following a long layover. Why? $hit - who knows??

That time of year, huh? Comin' out of storage!!!
That one's got me miffed...Especially since it was on the hose...for all intents and purposes, the exhaust should flow easily either way when the prop is out of the water. Hmmmmm......

No,
Have I decided to go with 4 blades. This morning I talked with Byron at Bronson Hill. He is going to send me out either some 26 or 28 Bravo's. He wasn't sure what he was going to send me since he wanted to ponder it some more. Either way, if what he sends me is not right, I'll send them back and get the other. I will try them in stock configuration to see what they do. I will then have him tune them in hopes of gaining the 200rpm that many people claim to get from his work. I've noticed that Baja is now shipping 26" 4 blades on 2002 29 Outlaws with regular 496mags. I would have to think that if a 29 with regular 496 mags can turn stock 26's, then my boat with HO's would be able to turn labbed 28's - at least I'm hoping.
