Baja Daze,
What up bro? Got a quick question for you. My wife and I are going to get a dog. My wife would like a lapdog like your American Beagle; in fact, she loves those beagles. How does your beagle like the boat? Does he/she like to swim? Or, do beagles hate the water? How is your dog for over nights on the boat? Any information you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Advantage!
In my opinion, I think he is a perfect boat dog! There's two kinds according to the AKC, 13" beagles and 15". Ones bigger than the other. They are about 25-30# full grown and don't take up a lot of space in the boat. Like I mentioned earlier, he loves going on the boat and gets excited if I even head towards the boat bag, let alone touch it! He's really good, knows his routines well and knows Where he needs to go to keep out of the way and where he aloud to go and where not. When we're moving, he leaps up into my wife's lap and sits there like a model passanger, his ears flapping around in the wind. Otherwise, while adrift relaxing or at the docks, he hangs out with the best of 'em. He keeps occupied with his chew toys and sleeps wherever we place his blanky.
He is also a great swimmer. He'll jump right off the boat with permission(not before) and swim to his content. We take him to the islands where he can run around and play in the water. He'll fetch anything we throw out there for him. He's certainly not water shy. Hope this helps!
