Default Anyone know what I should be running with 500-540hp on 96OL SST

Had an engine built.. 500 to 540 hp in a 96 outlaw SST.

Bravo x drive. Sport tubes and open headers. does anyone know what speed I should be getting with this engine.. running Full MSD ignition. stock 96 454 thunderbolt fuel pump.

with a 26 4 blade was running 4500 to 4600 rpm.. max opperating range is 5200 rpms. was up around 70 mph.....

would a 25 3 blade mirage plus give me more speed and stability?

Three blades are going to be the fastest
on that boat.....the drive is fairly deep on
those.

I would think that you want to get your
rpm's over 5k too.

Can you give us more details. What length & weight is the boat? What did you have done to the engine? What is your propshaft depth? If it is stock outdrive setup it is probably deep 7 to 8 inches, then use a 25 Mirage.

I had a 489 w/ around 500hp in my 89 226 sport, 4000# boat. I was in the same rpm and speed range with a B1 26, after putting a 25 mirage on it I was runnig 74-75 around 5100rpm.

24 Outlaw? Sounds like you need to drop down to at least a 25 Bravo if you stick with 4 blades, maybe even a 24. If you go three blade probably a 25 Mirage plus. And trim that baby to the moon!
