[QUOTE=irishtornado;2989693]Excuse my ignorance here, but what is "CG" I'm adding boxes and shorties to my boat this winter and am curious to what your referring too?
I would think the extetion boxes and the shortys would put your x dimention right were its allready at ,its real easy to test before you go through all that work try the shortys first ,give it alittle trim and try to get on plain with heavy load My 302 had great bow lift ,I felt the cg was good on that boat .If you can get up easy ,you should be able to add pitch and be faster .Its all leverage thats where cg comes in some boats are balanced and run flat, shortys work great with higher HP and todays prop tech.hulls like Baja with alot of bowlift dont like shortys my 33ol went 71 mph when I brought home We found 7 mph before I changed power 78mph 425s 86mph 625s 92 mph710s 97-99 800hp I youst to have to much time on my hands, just call me I hate to type

My 302 didn't come up on plane easily and has a bad bounce while running. Boat had 496Mags upgraded to 496HO's still same problem. Currently repowering with 500efi's adding boxes and shorties with 380 kplanes. Boat would bounce unless drives where full down. Prop height is 7.25" Running 4blade 28p bravo's labbed by Bblades. Will most likely be running 30p Bravo's after the 500's are installed and shorties added.

I would start with a straight edge ,check the last 5 feet of the bottom for hooks /rocker 90% of Bajas I look at have hull issues find the problem first then then your boat will appreciate the extra HP I need more info

would leaving rocker on the boat help to lift the bow, if your running boxes. and hook I would think would lift the transom and push the bow down. yes no or is it better to be straight with boxes. art.

my 33 has no hook hull has been blueprinted ,strakes have been sharpend I would think that a rocker would cause a porpoice and the faster you go the porpoise gets voilent, not so noticeable in bumpy water The problem with adding boxes after transomes allready cut ,I would think it would put your drive deaper in the water then adding a shorty would put you about where your allready at biggest benefit would be from shortys alone
