240 Sport Prop Issue!

J240, when you pull the pickup out of the tank, you have the anti-siphon valve in your hand!!! It's the nipple screwed into the top of the pik up that the hose attaches to. Take it out and try to blow thru it in the direction that the fuel would run. Remember, fuel pumps "push" fuel just fine. But they don't like to "pull" it from the tank. Just a little hang up on the ball valve in there and it will get starved for fuel above 3000 rpm or so. Do yourself a favor and chuck it over board and put a simple hose nipple on the top of the pick up (you should be able to get one at any good hardware store). I even have a few laying around if you just can't find one. Let me know and I'll send you one!!!
Hope this helps.
Mike

Waterfoul thanks for all the info. I will completely flip if I did all this other work and missed part of last season for one little valve!! Young and stupid I suppose!! This weekend I'm replacing all the fuel lines and running and new fran high flow filter so I will throw that valve as far as I can!! Thanks for all the help and maybe this will end my nightmare and not to mention my dad's
" I TOLD YOU SO " as he is a die hard outboard guy , who laugh's
as I turn wrenches all weekend and he just turns his key. But when mine's running I always have the last laugh as I blow by him. Ha Ha
