Tell them you are doing them a favor.....!!!!
Yea, tell them all that. They are just in the boat business. What do they know? LOL. Come on guys get real.

Remember also that in MD you only pay tax (6%) on the amount of difference between your trade in and the new boat. So if you trade in at 45 and pay 80 you only pay tax on 35, not the whole 80. That is a nice little chunk of money.

I just researched BUCValu.com and they list the retail price on a 2008 26 OL at Retail Price Range:* $59,200-$65,000

This is from their site...never heard of them:

Your solution is BUCValu, the most current and accurate online resource for used boat evaluations. BUC International Corp. combines over 40 years experience in used boat values with the latest econometric techniques to provide you with the most accurate market values.

BUC died in 1999 when yachtworld took over. It's useless. They pioneered the MLS system for yacht brokers and it was the holy grail until the internet hit.

I was being a Wise Ass for the most part, although I disagree with you that a 2008 26 is only worth 41k.

Agreed, that sounds like a killer trade in deal to me. Get the 08' 30 OL at a smokin' deal AND get $45K for your 26 in today's economy? Sounds like a no-brainer to me. When I first read your post this morning I thought about putting my boat up for sale and trying the same thing! Got me excited...

I think your lucky to get 45k real money. A buddy sold his 08 last year outright. Loaded up with Heritage trailer for 55k with 50 hours on it.

The only number that really matters is the difference you are paying. How much is the 30 is it a great deal? Will your total be less than sticker on the 30 if so its probably a fair offer.
