Hey All:
I am negotiating to upgrade from my 2008 26 Outlaw SST w/ 496 HO w/ 80 hours into a new "leftover" 2008 30 Outlaw. In "real" dollars the dealer is offering $ 45,000.00 for my boat and trailer. This seems low to me but prices are all over the place and I know there is a HUGE difference in what one thinks his boat is worth and what someone is willing to pay. What are some of your thoughts ?
Thanks,
Steve

Have you considered putting it on the market for $55K for a week or two just to gage interest and maybe make a quick sale? My buddy put his 2001 25 Outlaw on Craigslist just last week for $35K and had 4 calls in a week. It's a really clean boat but still, 9 years old.
$45K doesent seem that bad for trade in value if you ask me, that's about what I would expect given today's market. What does the blue book say?

I had it sold for $ 52 K but the guy had very little cash and could not get financed. NADA "Low" is $ 44K and "Average" IS $ 49k add the trailer and that range is $ 47 K to $ 52 K. The boat is exceptionally clean only 80 hours with an extended Mercruiser warranty through 4/2013. So my thoughts is that it is better than the "Low" number. But maybe I am being unrealistic. Thats why I was seeking opinons.
Thanks,
Steve

Yea that's really what it comes down to - what are the odds of finding a buyer with enough cash to put down to satisfy banks in today's economy. By the time you find this person the other boat might have sold. If it comes down to $5K or so difference I'd prob just go with the trade, get that dealer down as far as possible on the other boat and have them throw in everything but the kitchen sink (boating gear). Also maybe they can offer you an extended warranty on the 30?
BTW, is the extended Merc warranty something that I can buy for my boat? I have 55 hours on her but also want to move up to a bigger boat in 2011 or 2012.

45k is way to low in my opinion. Nada figures are low. I just went through a Re-Finance and whatever figures the bank used showed the value of my 2008 26 OL at 61k. Not sure what he used, but he looked it up for me just a month ago and gave me that figure.
The problem is the banks DO Not want to loan $$ on Performance Boats. I ended up not doing the Re-Fin because I could only get one bank that would consider it and the rate was the same as I have now so I said forget it.
----
Here are a few things to consider.
-Probably going to be hard to sell it on your own quickly, because you are almost going to need a Cash Buyer.
-If you are getting a smoking deal on the 30 then maybe it is worth it to let yours go for 45k
-Not sure if you have to pay any Sales Tax if you buy the boat, but typically if you trade in your 26 you will only pay it on the purchase price which will be minus 45k, so that will save you a few bucks.
or you could just keep the 26......!!!!!!!!
Good luck

Yea Admiral's Anchor had those two years ago when I bought mine. They would not negotiate at all ! The $ 45K number has room for him to re-sell it and make a few bucks. I hate to see a dealer make out on it that way. If I have to let it go cheap I'd rather it be to an individual that would enjoy / appreciate it.

I bet they will list it for 60k and at least grab 55-58k out of it. Try and work them in the 50-52k range. Tell them no one is coming this late in the season to buy that 30....plus with gas prices who wants to buy a boat with two motors.....

Tell them you are doing them a favor.....!!!!
