Bosch Platinum plugs, Havoline HD40 oil, Mercury HP Gear Lube +, AC Delco PF25 oil filter, Mercury water seperator/filter. If you run hard you should change your oil every 25 hours. I also add 1/2 qt of Marvel Mystery oil to crankcase for valve protection. Jax is right about Mag motors, they love to eat oil. Keep an eye on the level and ALWAYS keep a few quarts on board. 200 hours and it runs like new.

Question? Why doesn’t Mercury use multi-viscosity oil? It seems strange, that they wouldn’t go with lower weight oil until your engine warms up. This way the engine gets lubricated quicker.

I was looking at a 5w50...synthetic.

Is 10w40 40 weight when it's warm? Like straight 40 weight.

Thanks
FT.
