272's are larger in the cockpit area?? really? i have a 24OL and considering its roughly a foot shorter than the 272 tied up side by side what are you considering a "much larger cockpit"...i am shooting from the hip but willing to bet/guess there isnt 6" of difference in the cockpit sizes. the Cuddy - yes theres a noticable difference there.

speedwise - very similar between the two. ive outrun 272's and ive been outrun by them as well with identical power pkgs, in my case 502 mags.

it basically boils down to what look you like - both killer rides for the $$

I believe the 272s are larger in the cockpit and smaller in the cuddy and sunpad. I have both a Hammer and a 25OL. The 25Ol has more than enough wind protection. No need for sunglasses running full throtle and sitting down. The wind screen deflects wind real well. I have the poker run seating in my 25OL and there is no room to stand behind the bolsters. I, however, have plently of room while driving.

I never measured the difference but I now have a 29 ol and the cockpit area in the 272 I had seems to be the same that I now have in the 29. The main difference from the 25 ol and the 272 is the room behind the front bolsters to the rear bench.

272 Question

I had an outlaw but never been on a 272, The entrance to the outlaw cabin is tight, I always thought the 272 was bigger and had a larger entrance to cabin. I would say the 272 is a better boat for the family by the way it looks.

The 272 is a great all around boat. I just purchased a 29 fountain fever and i like my baja better and i feel it has more room than the 29.

I had a 1998 29' Fever (single 500). Personally I prefer the Fountain over the 272 or 25OL. But I prefer the 29OL or 302 over the 29 Fountain. I don't want to start a beak debate, but it's true...a 29 Fountain is a 27 anything else. I went from the Fountain to a 302. It felt like going from an apartment to a mansion. Of course I added an engine and slowed down 10 MPH though. But that's when I started having kids and the Baja was just a lot more practical.

There were a few things that bugged me about the Fountain. Getting up on the deck was down right dangerous. I hated the three piece cabin door. 29' single is tough in tight places with wind and current.

I did like the left handed throttle.

I like the look of the fountain but..

They are a little tight on space, the comment about getting on the deck is funny because that is what bugged me about my Active thunder.
