The 38 is a whole lotta boat.
The 342 is a lady in the street and a freak in the bedroom kinda thing. Will do 71-72 with HO's if its not loaded down with fuel. Has a good ride and a lot of amenities. I can tell you that the "U" shaped seating in either boat is great for entertaining, comfort and lounging around.

I have been debating back and forth on the 38 special or the 342...Has anybody got the 342 and wished they had went for the 38? I tow from West Louisiana to Destin once a year and have a hard time getting over the whole size difference behind the truck. I know which one I would prefer once anchored out with the wife and two kids.

I love every aspect of my 38 except for the fuel consumption.
I'm used to pulling excavators on trailers behind my dually so the size of the load and weight wasn't really a factor.
If all you have is a 3/4 ton or 1 ton fleetside tow rig I'd suggest the 342. I'll never pull my machines again without dual rear wheels.
Everyone is right about the size of the 38, they're HUGE!!!
See ya,
Kelly
