Looked at a 252 today!
 

Well I finally got out to look at a 252 today. For sale less than a mile away. Definitly got a sense of how big (to me) the boat is. Definitly feel like it would more than suit our needs, cuddy is comfortable, cockpit is comfortable.

Now to find the right options, colors, year, price, etc.

Glad to here. Once I sat in a 252 I knew I wanted one... Loved that boat

On 232's - I am taking my wife to look at a 232 here in metro Detroit - going to see how much smaller and if we like the 232 vs. 252. There seem to be a lot more of them available.

On 272's I just dont think we want that much boat yet, does he have it posted anywhere or do you have a picture of the color/graphics scheme?

Really think we like the 252 so far.

Once you get out on the water, I guarantee you won't think it's too much boat. If you can swing the cash, get a 272!

Everything shrinks, just add water. my 342 is small once off trailer.

Off topic but mittens where do you do most of your boating? Reason I ask is because I picked up my 25OL about three months ago near dadeville, AL. I test drove it on Lake Martin if youre familiar with that water. Alabama is a beautiful part of the country!

Does anyone know how the 252 is between 18-21 mph? Is it on plane, off plane, in between?

Has anyone ever wakeboarded behind a 252?

With everything down (trim and tabs) and a couple of light women in the bow we can plane our 252 at 20. No lower.

Trim up a little (off plane), tabs up and the thing will throw a huge (really really big) wake, but you will not technically be on plane in my book (bow high attitude). We do this to attract dolphins to the wake, they love to play and we love to watch.

Yes a 252 at 20 is about as slow as you can go, and will need tabs and drive DOWN. tried to pull a knee boarder one time, thats was the only time i have pulled with the one i had.

I need to be able to run a steady 16-22 for tow sports. will a 252 do this?

What if I prop it for out of the hole instead of top end?

Look into an H2X maybe. I hear they are pretty good for watersports, shallow deadrise.

I really want stand-up bolsters and a boat I can take from Detroit into Lake Erie and Huron for weekend trips. I might reconsider a 232 again.

NA man, i had 2 differnt props, and its not a matter of power, the hull just does not sit on top of the water below 20, hell at 20 your still not where it SHOULD be but its technically on plane.

the hull is meant to cut the water (to much V, for slow speeds on top of the water), make the boat ride good in the chop (for a 25 foot boat), but it also means it does not sit on top of the water like a flatter bottom boat would.

If you are buying a boat to pull you need to probably look to something else man. Just my .02 love the boat but in 5-6 years pulled knee board ONCE, for less than 10 min, casue it just sucked. always boarded behind my buddys mastercraft, that is until he bought a donzi. haha.

have a 2000 252 islander with a 454 mag.63.3 is best i've seen on gps(3 adults @half tank of fuel)pull kids on tubes @20-21 mph.cannot go any slower or boat comes off plain.speed is fine for tubing (kids from 7-13 yrs old)DO NOT BUY ANY LESS THAN A 385 MAG OR YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!i'm gonna try wakeboarding this weekend but speed seems a little high for that.will know more monday.absolutely love the boat though.rides great good storage(just not fast enough,but what is)

same speeds out of my 252 with a 454 mag.

wake boarding at 20-22 mph works but with that much surface area you will be on top of thw water to mucha nd it will seam very bouncy, slippery, and no fun.. just my experience though.

So I'm back to looking for either a 232 or 252. But the boat has to have a windshield.

I'd also prefer a 454 Mag MPI for power.

the 232, and 252 are pretty rare to find with a wind screen. so a windshield should not be a problem.

It seems like 1/2 of the them for sale right now have windscreens.

Far away from me, but looks like a nice setup with that 500 EFI. If it has more than a few hundred hours on it it is probably due for valve springs and maybe a top end rebuild.

Not to pile on, but my '05 245 is for sale. Very similar to the 23 that you are looking at. We have a 3 month old and I need to purge until we find time to get back out on the water.

the hp 500 would definately be my motor of chioce(prefer hp 525)trying to make more power with mine now.if your thinking 25 footer do not buy a 23.the 25 will be "too small"faster than u think.

Seems too good to be true to me. Email them. If their reply starts with wire transfer instructions, you know it's a scam. Just ask questions that a boater would know...

$23k.. Just over 300 hours 2002 232.. Very good condition and runs great.

Theres a 99 252 w/ 454 near me for sale. 150some hours and he wants like 28k. Has a pretty nice graffics wrap.

If you would be interested in a Formula 252 SS. Just bought a 33 AVS Scarab. The Formula has been repowered (383 Mag 350HP approx 40 hours on engine) has battery charger, fresh water flush, and pressure water in the cabin. Porta-potti never used with dock side pump out. In great condition. Has Rolls trailer dual axle. Will include 5000 BTU Cruisair portable AC. Fits in the cabin hatch.
