Thanks for the info and pics guys thanks and keep em coming. Gives me a lot of ideas about updating. Also do you pull your boats with 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton? I'm sure half ton will get it done but didn't know if a half ton might struggle some times. I'm truck shopping right now. Looking at sierra, silverado, and tundras. Thanks

A half ton will do the job but if you can afford it I would get a 3/4 ton thats what I towed my 25 outlaw with. A silverado 2500hd they have bigger brakes heavy duty cooling and a bigger transmission.

Depends on how far you are going to tow and how hilly it is. As stated, a 3/4 ton would be ideal, but some of the newer 1/2 tons are carrying near 10K ratings when properly set up. Whatever you do, stick with a 4wd vehicle.

Keep in mind of the 265's weight. I pulled mine with a 01' Tundra BUT not far and on flat land. And make sure your surge brakes are working good. Now that I have moved to SE Indiana I bought a Chevy 6.5L TD and even it gets pretty warm in the hills pulling the sled. I'd suggest a 2500HD also.

Ckc... I owned a 1988 265 for about 10 yrs...2001-2010..., I bought it with a single 454, it had a 19p prop and it ran about 52 on gps. After I blew that motor I bought a 500hp from (blue motor) chief engines in Florida. With that engine it ran about 62mph with 24p labbed prop. I ran it that way a few years then added a 250 b&m supercharger with twin 750 holleys, no intercooler... With a 26p prop it ran 68 mph... I also went through 3 drives in that span of time. I upgraded thecdash to make the boat look much better too.. Very easy to do on that boat. It was great boat that took the waves very well! I traded that boat to shogren for a 33ol. Last I heard my old 265 ended up as a commuter boat for Blarneys Island bar up in WI... They put a really cool looking wrap on it....

I'm looking at the Silverados with the 6.2 gas motor and tundras. Really wanting to get one of the Silverados but they are hard to find with that motor.

Bajapred..thanks for the info and would love to see some pics of your old boat if you have any

BajaPred, that was one clean looking 265! Man, I wish I had held out for one of those instead of my 235. Looks like quite a bullet that you dropped in it. Is that a homemade startup cart that you have it on in the last picture?

I like the updated CF dash panel with the new gauges. The helm is the next project on mine. Planning to paint all of the black and smoked plexiglass panels with charcoal grey and silver, and then repaint or powder coat the windshield frame silver. I hate the black - it gets hot, and every little scratch shows up on it. Also hoping to add some vinyl graphics this summer to update the looks a little bit.

I have to confess...A very good friend of mine is a professional mechanic..he works at a local boat dealership where I live...but he has been a gearhead his whole life...was brought up on a farm in IA and built tractor pulling rigs..very talented guy..anyways, yes, that is his starting cart. Incidentally, the gauges you see on my dash came out of a 342 baja..was a very cool upgrade for that boat...and the gelcoat was near flawless!

The tractor in the photo is an M Farmall... that is a 454 MPI you see shoehorned in there...will run about 130mph if you have the sac to try it.......We built that last year..he is going to run it in the tractor parade coming up later this month up in IA.
