Nice video of a Baja running in some snot. I seem to remember that alot of big name boats did not finish the run, and broke that year. I also remeber a quote from Reggie saying he would never go back because it was so rough.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6VJJfSaOYw Also, if driving a boat was easy it would be called "your mom". That wasn't directed at anyone in particular. It just sounded funny in my head. Actually, it makes no sense in this context. Bottom line, I don't think there is any one brand better than another on a macro level. It comes down to what brand will be better than another for what the individual buying the boat intends to do with it. For me personally, my next boat will sacrifice top speed and "big wave crushing" ability for more cabin room, a crapper, sink, and hell maybe a micro or a range. I really dont care what brand. Whatever will make my wife and kid comfortable enough to not ***** that we need a cruiser. For a single dude who boats in notoriously sloppy water one brand may be better for HIM where as the same brand won't work for someone else. Same thing goes for cars, trucks, quads, snowmobiles, tractors, baby strollers, condoms, anything with a name. Ok that's enough logical sense out of me. I'm going to find a titty bar and get drunk. |

I'll be in KW in november, maybe you should come down there?? better yet for your sake just stay in Canada, the team I roll with and myself don't like pussies like you.
Oh I am pretty sure YOU and the "boys" you roll with don't like ***** PERIOD, and judging by your LAME online posturing the ONLY kill houses you frequent are actually "Bath Houses" or the ones on video games. You and your "boys" come on over to KW, would love to meet a REAL tough guy like yourself, til then, do us All a favour and shut up PS: I am not in the military, but, I got a "buddy" that is, and he is faster, better, and stronger than anyone else, kinda like your "buddies" boat.... Do you see now how Assinine your arguemet sounds??? |
After further reflection, I have NO interest in subjecting OSO/Baja guys to anymore of this crap, so.....
Your right, I am wrong, all Bajas suck, and your buddies boat will crush any Baja out there in the rough stuff, bar none. You and your buddies are the toughest, strongest and meanest guys out there. You know everything about boating and I know nothing, other than what you tell me. Feel better? Good. Moving On...... |
Hmm... Baja to Cig to big water to Saber to some D-bag posturing. :lolhit::lolhit::lolhit:

This thread is embarrassing....there are no words to describe it!
You sound like a bunch of women that like to take the argument down 17 different paths instead of the 1 important fact. "why trash talk" There is no reason to trash talk about ANY powerboat brand from another powerboater!!! PERIOD! We all have a passion for this sport and to keep it alive there needs to be a diversity in boats. How lame would it be if we all drove SKATER cats???? Stop trying to get the last word in. There is NO perfect BOAT out there. Its a give and take depending on your lifestyle, family, budget, personal taste, etc. |
How do I get the 30 minutes of my life back that it took to read this lame thread???

OK,,,,,lets start OVER FROM MY PERSPECTIVE,,,,I have no idea how you can trash modern Bajas I bought a 272 band new in 1997,,,,put 750 hours on it in 7 years,,,,,,,and not 1 penny besides maintenece. Buddy still owns it to this day 38 Special,,,,OK,,,, I didnt the the "cruiser" feel to the ride,,,,I only owned it a month. But ac/heat genny and half my house still running 65 MPH was pretty cool. 36 OL rock solid,,,,only failure in 4 years,,,,,an external steering hose,,,sold it to a buddy last year who loves it just as much. So IN MY OPINION,,,,,are there better boats,,,,,probably,,,,,,better value for the dollar,,,,,not so sure. |

Boat is spotless And since we are getting back on topic, I think the fact is that in dogs, boats, motorcycles, exotic cars, women, you name it, there is always a spectrum and some get off by trashing those that are deemed to be lesser among the spectrum than the one they have (I was going to say "own", but the feminists would get pissed). I happen to own a 93 Ferrari Mondial T (hence the reference to the red convertible with a yellow horse that totally blew her dress off) - it is the car I always wanted and I fit in it (I can't say the same for most Ferraris). It is also at the butt end of the Ferrari world and I get condescending looks and comments from time to time when in the company of fellow Ferrari-istas. And I say, "so what?" Like go fasts, chicks dig it for its looks and the fact that it is a Ferrari. They may gravitate to a 430 if we are parked side by side, but they sure love mine when it is alone at the valet stand and, hey, I am in the club and have a great car that I love and could afford without selling one of my other toys, and I don't have any plans to race or track my car so I don't care it your Fcar is newer, faster, or whatever. That doesn't mean that I won't drool over it (we should all appreciate the beauty of the category of things we love - I love to look at beautiful women but that doen't mean I start hating on my wife because she doesn't look like some porn star I just finished, er, "watching", or hating on my Outerlimits because it is not My Way, etc.). Does that mean we should be like kids in little league where everybody gets the same size trophy no matter what boat they have? No, it doesn't. My Mondial will never keep up with a 455 on the track, on the wow spectrum, etc. Similarly, saying a Baja is just as good as an Apache or an Outerlimits is just ignorant (use Michael Jackson voice and read it outloud). My job is to be gracious and friendly to the guy in the 3X foot baja that rafts up to me at the beach and maybe even say a couple of nice things about his boat. His job is to not say something ignorant like "I only paid X % as much as you and my boat is just as good as yours." Bottom line - people trash talk because they are shallow. People are offended by trash talking because they are pussies. So, don't be shallow and, what ever you do, DON'T BE A *****! Now, group hug everybody! :bananalove: |

Opinions vary, and who the hell cares right? |

I believe there was an old Baja 265 hanging tough too, correct? One thing I learned in motorcycle road racing is that most street riders use about 30% of the turning capability of their motorcyles. I think the same could be said about rec baoters vs. racers when it comes to big water handling. I've seen videos of 2xft boats airing out in offshore racing so high we could drive our boats under them........then you hear guys on here say it is easy cause the waves are spaced further :blahblah: Say what you want about Reggie, but I believe he is one of the nutty ones, he has quite the racing record, esp in the smaller boats early in his career. That doesn't mean owning a fountian makes you special, nor does owning a cig make you Don. Doesn't matter, I found my next boat for big waves....I'm going up top! http://youtu.be/P-3XOD17Jug |
Sorry guys for being a *******!! It's not the first time a couple guys got on OSO and got into a little argument. I recall seeing a lot of names in the thread that have gotten into it 1 time or another on here!!
That being said sorry if I offended any one and I do respect all boat brands and as long as you're on the water, that's all that matters!! I can't wait for KW seeing how we don't have much offshore boating going on in SD!! Need to get my rig so I can cruise up and hang with Tank and everyone! |

Ok, I too will take "my lumps" the thread started out as some good old fashioned ribbing, started going downhill and now has NOTHING to do with the original post, definately NOT the reason we ALL come here.
Although, I NEVER said my boat was better than anyone else's, I did say things that where probably more arguementative than factual. So, for those I do apoligize. Boaters are generally pretty "Brand Loyal", so, MAYBE, just MAYBE it wasn't a real good idea to come on here and brag about your "other" boat? Just a thought. I have had NO problems with my Baja, its been a great boat, I am FULLY aware of the fact its NOT a "world beater" or real fast or pretty, but, its mine, its cheap to run/insure and its does 90% of the stuff I want to do. Sure, its not a lot of fun in HUGE water, but, I rarely boat in those kind of conditions. I personally have set my sights on an Outerlimits, it will mean a PILE of Overtime and sadly, it will mean having a payment [which I HATE the thoughts of] but, if you want something, sometimes it means sacrifices. I can safely say however, if [or when] I am fortunate enough to get my "new" boat, I would never dream of coming back to this forum and talking about how much "better" my new boat is, I have nothing bad to say about my current boat, and have found that most of the people who post on the Baja forum are really decent guys who have provided me with a wealth of information. Appoligee's to anyone I offended, regardless of what they own, or dont. |
ummmmm :food-smiley-007:
