My first post and am looking for advise. I have my Crownline 225 sold and am looking for a different boat. I am leaning towards a Baja 232 Islander because I like the size and stand-up seats. My Crownline had a 496 mag with a bravo III and loved the hole shot and it did about 62mph on gps, what am I going to be looking at as far as performance with an Islander with a 496? Obviously I realize it will have most likely a single prop drive so the hole shot will not be quite as good but I had a 232 boss a few years back with a 454 310 horse and the performance was not that great, 60 mph on a really good day. Also anyone have any experience with a 6.2 in them? Look forward to being an oso member.

A friend of mine had one. They are decent rides. Compared to my brothers Crownline 225 it is much nicer and rides better. But to be honest if I was in your situation I would bump it up a bit and look for a 25 Outlaw.

I appreciate and respect the response but I really want an open bow, I love the look of the outlaws and was considering a 23 outlaw. The lakes I live on are not very big and a 232 is about as big as I want to go, unless I find a smoking deal on a 25 footer.

Understood. If your looking for one that is cool. If you buy one then that is awesome! It will be a much nicer boat all around than the Cr225.

Not sure I agree that the Baja will be a much nicer boat than the Crownline. I had a 232 Islander as a loaner once when my new boat was down for an extended period of time. It was a fine little boat. It was a '97 I believe with a 7.4L and a Bravo I. You could probably get into a 252 Islander for not a whole lot more money. It is a better balanced boat with a big block.

Most 232s are big blocks, but there are a fair share of one around with 6.2s. I am just starting the search so there may be some changes made along the way but I just bought a new lift this year and it is going to limit me to 26' and 5500 lbs and am not going through that again for a while. I think the last year for the 232 was 2005, anyone know what the last year for the 252 is? I would like to get a islander 242 but I really dont know what they were thinking with the bow access being on the passenger side and not in the middle.
