Fuel efficiency is relative, you are still pushing a large boat. The advantage of a triple over a twin is this: 3 smaller motors will work less hard than 2 larger horsepower to achieve the same speed. The triple 496's ran 79 mph for the same speed in a twin set up it would have to be 575's. The twin 525's set up ran about 6mph slower.

The lower power engines also wear/break less parts compared to their higher horse power twin setips, especially in drives..

The 442 triple sucks fuel faster than we breathe oxygen. Also, I've ridden in one and driven one many times, horrible ride and handling for a boat that exceeds 40', let alone 44' in my opinion.

This boat was a beast!! Meanest sounding boat I ever heard. Very Loud!! and I dont think that was its current pwr from back then.

I just accepted a job offer in the Tampa area.
Oh boy I have been back on the forums....
I owned 3 bajas's . 27.2, 29OL and 35OL.
Dream boat for me would be a 39 Nortech but also love a Donzi 38ZR. My family never stayed over night in our Baja. So the low head room in a Donzi is not big deal just the free board. Not much side height compared to a Baja or Nortech. ( feeling secure in the boat.)

I really love the looks of the 40OL's posted on here!!

I would assume you ask because of blowers? I don't want to start a huge debate about outdrives but I have never had any problems with outdrives behind blowers or healthy NA motors. I do have a friend with a 32' sunsation 2X496ho that has gone through 5 outdrives in 10yrs, its not rocket science.
The 40 is a great boat, not the fastest but makes up for it elsewhere.

There was a cool looking 40 in early 2000's that had 575's said to run 80, think it was their magazine display boat.
