Change exhaust on the 496's. CMI not necessarily the best performer. Do your research on exhaust. Get the bottom blueprinted. Find the right prop combination. Get a reflash for the 496's also. I have a 36, and would love to go faster, but I am not willing to give up the huge cockpit and cabin with a ton of storage for what it is. If you want to change brands, get one with a step bottom. And lose alot of the space you have now. Ah trade offs...

I miss the speed of my old boat but I absolutely love the room. You will hate a sonic or active thunder in thats because of tight cockpit. MIne runs 80 on the dreamometer:) That impresses the rookies :)

^^^^^^^^^^ That's why I carry on board, a complete sea pump assy !!! Port motor no problem, Stb motor, not so much. There is no doubt about lack of engine room space on all of the Outlaws. On my 36, in order to pull the motors, I have to remove the outside headers and one inside header. Changing plugs, 2.5 per motor. But in the end, the lack of motor room space hardly compares to the time spent using the huge cockpit with lots of friends on board :)
My ideal boat would be a 40 Outlaw with Whippled motors and Arnesons. Tons of room and a good top end. Yes it is not a Cig or an Active Thunder, but the price is relative... |

How wide is the floor on your 33 Outlaw at it's widest point? Let's make sure we all use the same yardstick here. There is give and take. There isn't enough money on this planet to get me to change impellers on a 33 Outlaw sans pulling a motor. While the cockpit is huge on the 33 Outlaw, the engine room and cabin are smaller than other boats. There is only so much real estate in 33' feet of OAL.
The super large dance floor can also be awkward for passengers during poker runs and rough water. Sure there is enough day room for 10 people on the boat, but I find boating is best when it's just me and my wife making a mess of my interior :) haha |
I found a guy on the lake that did my impellers for 200 bucks and he supplied the parts :party-smiley-048: did them in my slip, then hot wired the motors for testing, paid him two weeks later when I was there, I try to support the little guys trying to make a living that do outstanding work for a fair price,

My daughter asked why I had all the scratches on my stomach from laying on the engines. Other than that wasn't too bad!! |

Impellers actually were not horrible but not gravey either. All boats do have thier pros and cons but the 33 outlaws are pretty amazing boats especially for the money. Everything about the boats is great or above average PLUS the cockpits are a bonus! |
