I am at 4.25 with boxes and labbed 4 blades. I would think 4 inches is too high with no boxes. 5-5.5 inches is safe if running 4 blades with no boxes. You arent going to pick up 5 MPH on a 33 so its not worth the aggravation. I've run combos from 2 to 5 inches and once you get over 3 inches its REALLY tough to get on plane even with the boat empty.

Jaay Tee will have the answer!!

Jaytee has boxes though, and we don't.

When you guys reduced your x dim did it change your engine rpm's at all with the same props as before and after?

Keith Atlanta 10-23-2014 03:52 PM

PCAT, you are dancin with the devil. Leave it alone. If you go with shorties, the IMCO bullet doesnt give the bow lift like the stock lower. So, for all the money and time you will gain nothing unless you are re-rigging to use stock lowers. On my boat, JT's boat & Crayola Crazy's boat the stock lowers were faster than IMCO's. If you want the speed, go get more horsepower. If you insist with tinkering on the drives, get the props labbed by BBlades. The only other thing that picks up speed was plugging the low water pick up holes in the bullet and re-epoxy the bullet nose. It picks up about 1.5-2 MPH at WOT.

The only person running high drive height with no boxes is Crayola. And his Baja aint a Baja. He has a bigger pad and bigger strakes.

I've already got the bigger power. It's time for a drive upgrade. Thats the reason for the thread. If' im going to spend the money on new drives id like to get the best setup the first time.

2003
Stellings boxes, propshafts at 4.25 running bravo lowers, Bravo 1 28's labbed, run up to 5600 RPM, I think my slip was down near 12.

I cant remember a lot of this I havent fooled with it in a couple years. However, I tried everything down to 2 inches and the props couldnt and wouldnt carry the bow.

Stellings boxes up all the way.

The only person I know running at or under 3 inches is JT and he is running 5 blades... But dont forget he has a poker run cabin too. So he doesnt have to carry that much weight in the bow.
