Irish, your 302 and the .38 are both reppin the brand big time. You did a great job on them both, I'm anxious to see how the big pig runs, she looks killer. Link some pix of them for the OP.

The 302 runs well over 80 with 470HP 500HP's and boxes, or the one Irish built did/does.

Just pokin fun ^^^Jersey. Cheers fellas.

That's fun to watch. How fast? Need some narrative.

The EFI 500 boats were mentioned as having 1000 HP, just trying to be clear. The other quoted dyno HP numbers in this discussion (630 a side for the 83mph 33OL) are obviously measured (full dress with wet headers) at the crank....but so is the EFI 500/HP, so its all apples to apples. We don't want to complicate matters by calculating loss thru the different drives and the variables that entails.

It's clear, the 1260 HP 33OL is slower than the 1000HP 33OL. Which was the original "question". The 302 loved the boxes and 500's. She ran out and looked bad azz doin it. Cool boat.

They're running it. My buddy bought a Hawkeye 33OL with factory 500's and boxes and it GPS's 82. I was on a friends 33OL with stock 525's and boxes running 83mph on GPS Smart Craft displays.

You can throw all the horsepower you want at a Baja, not setup properly and it will not run. Baja's need boxes, drive heights need to be raised, wheels with bow lift need to be ran and long kplanes need to control the boat running on the pad. It can be done.

Baja proved themselves that throwing horsepower at the boat wI'll not make it run, 850sci's and #6's in the PR 40OL named "Spotlight" and the boat labored to run 84mph

The Checkmate 43 Punisher, another prime example, 700sci's boat ran a lackluster 85mph, new owners experimented with the hull, mainly the edges of the steps and improving prop efficiency and now the boat runs 94mph, no change in horsepower yet a 9mph difference.

It's all in the setup. Those 630horse Smith motors are powerful, but so much horsepower is wasted to overcome the inefficiencies of the hull, drive heights and so on. No disrespect to anyone's boat I just believe that there's more top end to be had in a 33OL with 1260ponies sitting under the hatch.

In IT's Boyne video, the 2 lines in the water are from running negative tab to push the stern up as the wheels carry the bow making the boat lighter in the water.

JT, I missed your comment, yes my boat has stock trim, and with a post like #11 was I or anyone else to believe we were not talking about anything but stock, didn't come up later that they had junk in the trunk, I guess if I would of hung 30K worth of stuff off the back, blue printed the bottom and extended my swim platform 4 foot Id be in the high 90's :bunnydance::bunnydance:
