Default Tripple engines / drives:

Is raising any one of the drives out of the water, while the other two are running/working, a problem?

If one engine stops can that drive be raised to eliminate drag,or does that cause a problem?

Maybe a better way to phrase it: Are the drives designed to raise from the water independently while the other two continue to operate and drive the boat?

I would think that if you are running external steering with tie bars connecting the drives that raising one, particularly the center one, would significantly affect the alignment of the other two drives. If you raise an outboard drive, then that would significantly affect the steering ram angle, performance and alignment of that drive.

Other than steering there should not be a problem. If you steering is all internal then you should be ok, but with triples I doubt that is the case.

Triples have external steering so when you raise one up they come closer together and can hit. A big no-no. Just leave it down and run on two. Mine will plane on any combination of two and get you home safely at a reasonable speed.

Your best bet would be to remove the prop, and continue on as normal, or as close to such.

I agree removing the prop definitely would help. However, when my drive broke, I was over 50 miles from shore and felt the safest thing was to continue on two. If you are still able to run the engine for a short period and the still works, having a prop on there might help with docking.
