Sy wont's insure you unless the boat value is greater than 50K. I use Campisano for agreed value fo 35K for 1400.00. They also know about the blower. I'd advise you not to lie about the engine. You have a problem and they see that, you outta luck. 1994 Shooter 272 with 525hp. Living in 'Jersey, the land of sucking insurance!

1998 29' Fever 500HP. State Farm. $550 per year. Insured at $80k with a $500 deductable. Friend's '94 272 502MAG, also State Farm $400 per year.

It really depends on where you are. We boat on the Ohio River and from what I've heard the insurance is pretty cheap here in Cincy.

Thumbs up

Boat-U.S.
2001 25 Outlaw, 496MAG HO(425hp).
They also know everything! I carry moderately high coverage and I have an agreed hull value(replacement value, not depreciated value--very important!!!) of the full purchase price! = $1300/Year!

It's a lot more than most of you, but Our age kills us! I also like the peace of mind with Boat-U.S. I've seen them in action and they do a nice job with their claims!

What do you mean age
How old are you
im guessing your young from that statement

Great I thought that car insurance was bad under 25
let me guess i have to start all over again since im 31?
I hate insurance companies
and I dont have any blowers, turbo's or NOS or anything on my boat
Hell I think my starboard engine is trashed so i want some insurance for about 300-400 bucks
damn thing is not even that fast

I think the biggest differnce in price, more than location, is agreed value versus depreciated. I'd be very cautious with other than agreed. You might be hurtin if something happens. My boat is at 35K agreed. I paid 30K and put 10-12K into it(easily). A new Baja 275 runs 80K for about the same. If I went with the NADA book - and they don't care about my pretty Gaffrig Gauges and stero, blower etc... I'd only see about 20K.

Yes, that's right shooter! There is a huge difference with Agreed value policies and non-A.V. policies! That's somthing you have to scrutinize very carefully when reading the fine print...Many non marine-dedicated ins. companies don't offer that or won't make it known until you file your claims.

And when I spoke with Sy Goldburg from this board once, he also mentioned that I boat in what is considered one of the more "troublesome" areas statistically, so we here in Central to South Florida pay a little more than inland or river boaters.

And yes, Jayl13, we(wife and I) are only 24...So until we hit that magic quatrer-century mark we are just too damn outright dangerous, wild and stupid with our vehicles and boats. Damn Insurance Companies!!
