Re: SOB Racing next year
Brandon,
You might find the set back okay once you get trim tabs. With set back your increasing the lengnth of your boat, without tabs you will find it harder to control and unstable. Do you have a pad on your boat? |
Re: SOB Racing next year
As for the video, someone e-mailed it to me.
I'll try to find it for you. :drink: |

My SB is a non step v with a space to the transom I'm looking for a jack plate to set the prop ht Mostly running in Puget sound, guessing 1-2 foot chop, (i'm new to the area), but already chine walking badly with any side to side chop. (that's with 1 hour run time on the boat) I want to get some bow lift in the prop so I can use the trim tabs to settle the chine walk, and hope a different prop will help that too. The 23P mirage is going. no bow lift at all. does the raker prop give bow lift? (sternlift and bow lift would be even better then just bow lift.) Is Jeb's 300 stock hp or 400+ HP? I was offered a 25 renagade to try, any idea what kind of lift it has? The Johnson lower unit has a really small swept skeg. I'm thinking about welding on a merc skeg to give it better control. (thinking about the old Bertram raceboats that had non skegged speedmasters and liked to flip) Thanks Evan |
Re: SOB Racing next year
my V8 was running 52cc removable chamber heads, boyson reeds, land & sea velocity stacks, #78 main jets, 24 deg full advance, 100 LL premixed 50:1 with torco GP7.
the fastest it would run was with an OMC SRX 27". most race days i ran a 26" Raker. i will look for my dyno slips. not home right now i am in key west. yes i do own a prop shaft dyno |
Re: SOB Racing next year
Air Dog thanks i would love to see the video. My boat is a 21' Superboat which has a pad. With the 24's you may need some setback to get the bow up but with my boat being so light im trying to keep the bow down :D I think with the motor im building and puting it right on the transom the boat will still run over 90mph in the right conditions and still be setup for rough water.
