Default To Twin or not to Twin

That is the question. Since we are going to be totally redoing our boat We need to decide once and for all. That way we can get the right bracket, controls, and everything else that goes along with the setup of choice.

What is everybody elses thoughts on this. I love the boat with the single on it. But hate the fact that I can get smoked by a Crownline. My 225 is a big motor so I don't really know what gains are really possible in still staying with a single do to already being near the top of the hp ladder for a single.

Is it really worth it to go for twins?

Forget the single.

Twin V6 Mercurys or Yamahas.

Stock!

If your not filling in the transom then 5" of setback on manual jack plates.

If you are, then a 17" bracket, preferably a Porta Jack with a swim platform I say.

What speed do you want to run?....maybe all you need is an upgrade to a 300 on a bracket and jack plate.

Work backwards....how fast do you want to go and then what will it take to get you there. The latest outboards have so much torque and horsepower, you may not need to go to twins.
