How many banana's actually raced?

Re: How many banana's actually raced?
Wow, A lot of Bananna info here.
Chatim Racing, Do you remember building a yellow 24' with a cross ram 426 Hemi? My brothers next door neighbor still owns it, but the Hemi was removed and installed into a 1966 Satelite and a 440 was put back into the boat.
Anybody here racing a 24' single outboard Bananna in 92/93 in Lake St.Clair MI remember getting towed in by a black 24 Sunsation?
heatbuzz,That is an original 24' Cigarette Firefox, It was owned by a good friend of mine named Jim Dydra for many years, does it still have the left hand TRS and the Baker Engineering 462ci in it?

mrv8ob, I plan on upgrading to a 300 v8 in the future. I have a pretty bare bones boat right now so I need most everything for the performance upgrade. What equipment should I pick up in order to get the most out of the v8 setup?
Thanks Adam

I asked him the same question before I decided to go with twinns.
He said to get a porta jack (which I think are very cool) and get the long k-planes (380's) and mount them flat, instead of flush with the V bottom.
That should give you more speed since less tab is in the water...
Are you gonna get a Merc or a BIG JOHNSON...

Hey Chris, Whats the deal with a porta-jack? I was going to use a stainless marine bracket probably the longest one I could which is 30" setback and a hydraulic jackplate. Figuring the further back the better? But if this porta-jack will do the job better I'll look for one of them. Looking to cheap out a little on the planes by getting a used set of bennett's or a set of lenco's, (dual ram of course), and use the Martini/Victory tab upgrades. You can do this for about 1/3 to 1/2 of the cost of k-planes depending on how cheap you can find the bennett or lenco setup. And since I'm already setup for the OMC I'll go with the BIG JOHNSON or evinrude.

I am trying to transition from one blender to two. With 2 egg beaters I estimate the max set back should 18" in order to keep the center of gravity at it's optimum.
Porta Jack offers a 17" twin bracket with a swim platform that I hope to afford someday.
As for the single set up, 30" should work, but I think that is a max.
MrV8ob is the king for that question.
Charlie, Jr. should be able to give you some guidance since he has that set-up, but he has a 200 which I assume is lighter than a 300 OMC.
When my brother gets his Banana Boat I think the name on that center console would be good for him since he is "Koo Koo" for a banana...

Let me jump in here on this....
I have a 225 Yamaha on a 30" Armstrong bracket and 24" Keikhaefer 380s tabs. My tabs are mounted in the normal position - not parallel. I would think that parallel might be good for racing application (?) but not for pleasure; I like to put the tabs even with the running surface in rough water - makes the boat behave as if it's a 26' rather than a 24'...just my $.02.
Here's a couple of pics of my boat. I mentioned this in an earlier post but let me say again, I moved my back seat back 1 foot (see floor picture) - it gives a lot more room in the cockpit area...
