Wasn't there a "Bad Business" Forum some time back?

long duck dong 11-28-2007 09:44 AM

I have tried to lay off posting on this thread after allot of my posts have gone unanswered and I felt like I was wasting my time....I'm fairly new to the board and I always try and input where I can or have some know how.... If I was located closer to most of you I would be the first one at your house or shop if you needed help. Or I would open my shop to you to use for whatever you needed help with

When I first came to the board I purchased some equipment from someone who really got screwed by Fred. I had no idea who Fred or Trick Marine was. I posted a small fraction of what I was told and immediately got flamed up by the Fred Cecil/Trick Marine Nut-Huggers....Thats right I said NUT HUGGERS aka Flag Waivers..... and I sort of backed away from the board....after I paid for my membership

I certainly understand that everyone is entitled to their opinion and I choose to look for the positive when listening to someone else's point of view....but I always know in the back of my mind there is always a negetive when you have a positive.

I hope that everyone on this board has learned a SERIOUS lesson from the practice's of Fred Cecil/Trick Marine as we all sort of go through the aftermath that has been left for us to figure out on our own.

The lesson to be learned here is that people are people and no one is perfect, we all make mistakes. If someone has a bad dealing with someone you need to let that voice be heard without flaming that voice up or sweeping the thread under the rug or deleting the thread. It doesnt matter if they pay to advertise here or your a personal friend or whatever....

I personally enjoy this community and it has done allot to cure my endless stock in boredom that my wife and I have aquired over the short and cold winters together. I hate it that people have lost money and reputation value over someone like Fred Cecil/Trick Marine and I wish the people who have fallen victim to Fred/Trick Marine the best in recovering what you can.

To the mega-count posters: Don't forget that there are newbies wandering onto this site every day with little to no knowledge of this sport looking to learn. Free flow of information, provided it's accurate, relavant or at least provided in good faith, is the purpose of boards like this.

Just a newbies .02 worth.....now let's see if I overstepped my bounds. :food-smiley-007:

Your .02 is worth a lot with posts like that; everyone was a newbie at one time or another.
OSO and its members are and should be a big family with a common interest. Watching each others back is a big part of family.

I think most reasonable people will agree that the situation is NOT Heath's problem and that posting earlier would have been not in Heath's favor or done nothing to stop the farce. Fred may have had good intentions and dreams at first, but his inept business practices, pure ignorance back office business systems, the allowing dsyfunctional family members to be part of the business built Fred a house of cards. It had to fall/fail. Many times employees are led down a failing road by the owners on the hope that the shoddily built business will make it. I hope that the many people screwed out of $$$$ get some kind of settlement, I hope even more that the many lessons this episode has presented us are learned well. An even bigger hope is that a bad business/vendor section is put in place and some kind of vetting process be used to help us consumers make wise choices.

It was deleted.....!! Maybe they didn't want to use the suggestions, but maybe they didn't want other boards to grab the ideas?

A rating system or area to find GOOD business experiances (not just get warned of BAD business experiances) would be great!

Something like: www.AngiesList.com

I think he had so-called credibility waaaaay before that act.

Contrary to what Pantera650 says, there have not been many threads that were deleted.

We deal with threads all the same way, we read the reports and make a decision of what to do.

When you start a thread going after somesones throat you are most likely going to get it deleted.

For example, that MF XYZ Marine is a thief and stole from me blah, blah, blah

versus,

I am having trouble with XYZ Marine is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

I have sent Fred an email telling him how I feel about his actions and asking what he is going to do. It has been two days with no response.

The reason a Vendor rating does not exist here is we have not found a way to make it work properly.

I believe the forum is an excellent way to find out about people, that is the way people do it now.

Heath cannot be blamed for anything. He thought he was going to work for a trustworthy person. When he found out differently, he left. If he had posted what he recently has, he'd have been burned at the stake, tarred and feathered, and ridden out of Oso on a rail.

Not long after Trick started, a good freind of mine had some trouble with Trick. I advised him not to post it on here, because he would have been shouted down. I didn't know it was this pervasive at the time.
