The real issue with vendor ratings is that they're usually negative. Happy people just keep on moving, they don't often write about their positive experience. In addition, many people have a heightened concept of customer service. Even if you tell them "you're getting it cheap and it's going to either take time or the product might be imperfect", as soon as they pay, sometimes they forget that part.
Ebay's ratings system sort of works but it doesn't give you a true picture- no different than what we went through with Fred. It's a double-edged swors. No one wants to post a negative because they're going to immediately get one in return. That often disguises the proble people. With Trick, many figured if they biitched, there late shipment would be come WAAAY late. If kept factual and respectful, posting an issue about a vendor should be just what it is. Others commenting isn't really necessary. If you post, "so and so is a good guy...", that's nice but it doesn't help. The only other comment that could be posted is someone calling the individual with the trouble a liar. That's not helpful either. Maybe since it seems all the suppliers serving the community are on here, they would be the only one's allowed to respond. We are able to help resolve many of them. We never not one time got a call about Trick, we did get one threatening email about three weeks ago saying we were going to be sued for letting them advertise on the site. (again the approach is pertinent) Everyone, please see the Contact Us tab at the top, we have two phone lines that barely ever ring. We do also get occasional calls from people saying they are going to place a large order with XYZ or ABC individual and we always tell how long they have been a member and our experiences. I can also give you a list of people that no longer advertisers on here because I did not like what I read or my personal experiences. I also have a lot of info on certain people that don't advertise that I see you all praise every day. If you knew what they were all about you would take your business elsewhere. Ask me straight up what I think of someone and I will tell you the truth, just maybe not in public. |

I think before everyone starts placing blame here and there, we should realize OSO has been a website with a plethora of information. It is real easy to say "I told you so" after the fact, but how many times have we all been very happy with the outcome of a "deal" we have been informed of here on OSO. The Trick dilema is very unfortunate for all those involved. Sure, we must be proactive and learn from mistakes. On the flip side, how many "scams" have actually been propagated on OSO and caused financial woes to members??? Members have thwarted many an effort to scam others. Unfortunately a few scams have fallen through the cracks, but not nearly as many had it not been for OSO. It would be a little naive to feel it possible to police a site with 100% efficiency.
This is not intended as a bash towards anyone. I am sure measures are being considered as we post to move the site ahead. Sam |

He is on our list and we know he will return so we keep a constant eye out. You all would be surprised at what we do behind the scenes. |
