this is very interesting the new owner should have a big spash announcement not just same old web site only with a new name
With people still thinking Fred is behind it Just having the same format as the old site would make me shy away and be suspicious What the new owner got was the development cost of the web site and bad press

Needs to announce Fred is gone real quick rather then just people saying he is a good guy

will be interesting I would suspect the other debtors would move fast to force Fred into Bancrupsy. So this move can be viewed as his dumping of assest prepetition and contest it so they can recoup some of the value.

Some of the laywer types can tell us better what can be done with assests pre petition and post petition

Keep in mind that this transaction just came about this week. It takes a little time to re-adjust everything.

There will be a new domain name for Monster Marine. The old domain will be automatically linked to the Monster Marine site.

I just spoke to the new owner, he is planning a press release this week. He also just informed me that the new logo just got approved and will be up today.

I can't imagine debts being transferred, those would have to remain Fred's responsibilities. As previously stated, this new company accepted the website format and will be trying to make a go of it under a new name, with new vendors, and last but not least, an honest name behind it.

Give it a couple of weeks to get cleaned up.

The new owner should shut down the site tell he is ready. Hope that the new owner does not find layers going after him as he assumed more then just the design of the site, he assumed the URL name as well. The URL name WAS trick Marine. Some law guys could explain if I am wrong but I am guessing that they could have a field day. Especially Lavosi going for a pay back for the name deal a few years ago..... Just some things to think about but he I install stereo's for a living and I have to get back to work :D

I agree. There is less than zero "good will" value in that web site.(and its format) As far as "buying" the design, setting up a new online store is far easier than taking a current one and doing a total redesign.

IMO, if you wanted to set up a marine mail order business, you would be far better off to start from scratch than to use the format of one that has the reputation that this one has.

I agree.. I would think that there is Zero good will there & that people would be detered from buying there now no matter who is the new real person behind the curtain..

It would have been better in moy opinion to start a new business & site from scratch than to even be linked to that one at this point!..

That said, I have been a gaffrig dealer for a while & I do understand where Bob from Dana Marine is coming from. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but as per one of my other responses in this trick marine $hit storm, I cant help but feel as follows:

"Trick marine holiday party all invited" Or read below...

I have some ideas, but would rather not elaborate  . I am a gaffrig dealer, but if they were in Kahoots with this scandal or are planning to do business as Fred did, I will avoid them like the plague.

I dont need any problems or damage to my good reputation by associating with parts whores or liars.. Id rather loose a part line then my reputation & integrity..

Gaffrig is going to compete with his distributors now? This just gets more and more odd. Who would order from this website knowing the history. I also question transferring an asset of the company in the middle of litigation.

klaw 12-19-2007 02:20 PM

Tell me this doesnt sound exactly like Trick is doing

http://money.howstuffworks.com/bankruptcy.htm

"Creditors can also force a company into bankruptcy. They might do this if they discover that the owners are selling off all of the company's assets and preparing to dismantle the company without paying their debts. A creditor might also force a bankruptcy if the company is already making large payments to a different creditor. "

CMI should get a few others and force this hand or there is nothing left. Gaffig is gettin preferential teatment by taking an asset in exchange of debt. The law does not like thise kinds of things and can reverse those dealings
