I have delt with them for years and they are really a stand-up company. They have a great reputation in the boating and the hot rodding community. Some customers you can never make happy, no matter what you do to make it right. They wake up that way!

My boat has Arizona equipment on it called this summer to get some info they were total *******S. No I take that back they were THE WHOLE ASS!

Outdrive1 09-29-2008 10:49 PM

I and quite a few people I know haven't had any good dealings with them. They suck.

wrinkleface 09-30-2008 10:28 AM

Does not look like they R gunna B on 2 many peoples X mas list this year!!!

Speedpro1 09-30-2008 11:54 AM

You still haven't told us what happened?

Knot 4 Me 09-30-2008 12:09 PM

I know of a couple of boats that have used their ECM upgrades and soon after had roached motors.

midmo 09-30-2008 01:00 PM

I used one of there reprogrammed ecms and spent the rest of the year putting a replacement engine in . with no help from them at all. Wasn't even offered a refund on the ecm job.

obnoxus 09-30-2008 02:40 PM

Bought a boat with there upgraged ecu's ,,, called to get info on what was done,,,,, NOTHING !!!!!!!!!!!

Gave them all the info from the sticker they put on it also.

offshoredrillin 09-30-2008 04:26 PM

I dont have a problem with their hard parts, I have the throttle bodies and some fuel system parts. But i would never let them program anything. If you need to speak with someone tell them you want to place an order and then wehn they get on the phone tell them the issue..ironically they always find time to take a new order...

Airpacker 09-30-2008 04:32 PM

Gee, thats mighty nice of them Rob

My engine builder was doing a 622 N/A motor for a customer. 4 times they sent the ecm back to ASM and finally gave up. Bought the software and learned on their own dime how to tune it on the dyno.

I sure wouldn't let them do my puter.

fantastixvoyage 09-30-2008 06:02 PM

Custom tune is always the way to go whether DFI, Big Stuff, factory merc, etc. there are plenty of platforms that tuners can use.

Wrinkle - your guy in MI? I can point you to some good tuners if he wants to go a different route.

I crated and shipped the entire engine to Precision Marine. It costs a few bucks more but eliminates the guess work and potential of leaning out an engine. Of course I made a few changes and am now having to send the computers back for minor tweaks. (bought an O2 meter to take the readings)

Same thing I've seen, with three people. My boat sat in their lot uncovered for a month before I pulled it because the didn't have time to get it done. I ended up pulling the motor and sending it to Larry Peto.

Had another buddy he did the program for last a whole hour at the lake before he burned a hole in his piston. No help afterwards. He sleaved it, put a new piston in it, sent it to Peto and its still running a year later.

Another buddy had them build him motors, took over a year to get his boat back. They lasted about a month before he had to start from scratch.

Another guy had them reprogram his 500efi's, they didn't make it two trips before he had to rebuild his motors.

I don't know how they stay in business, no-one ever has anything positive to say about them.

Shame. Good hardware.

HIMES(JAIME) 10-08-2008 10:12 PM

where are these guys located? Hope they are not advertisers here on OSO.

Slick02 10-09-2008 07:31 AM

They are absolutely no help whatsoever, they won't respond to phone calls, e-mail or anything else, once they have your money, they're done with you...I found that out 10 years ago, and it dosen't appear by this thread that they have gotten any better with age/time.

29KILROY 12-03-2008 09:59 AM

Call Tyler!!!!!!!!!PERIOD. I bought my old boat with the previous owner having the ECM's reprogrammed by ASM, I even had the receipt showing they charged him $700.00. I burned a piston from having lean condition. After working with Tyler and HTG Racing on my 454 Upgrade Tyler went to reprogram my ECM's and he called me saying "I thought you said ASM reprogrammed these?" He told me they were bone stock still with the Factory Lock!!!!!! I called ASM asking what the ASM sticker was on the back of the ECM's. He said they were reprogrammed to that spec. by ASM. I then told them the finding and he said the previous owner must have switched them, I said why did they have the sticker showing their ECM upgrade for my motors? He simply hung up on me.........

ubet28 12-15-2008 11:09 PM

Thanks for the heads up to stay away from ASM.

they did my 500 efi computers back in 1999/2000. the boat ran and ran for more years than i could keep up with (the boat).

1 yr after selling the boat, the guy i sold it to called..... just to say how pleased he was with the boat and motors. ----- needless to say, when i saw him come up on my called id, i anticipated a whole different conversation! LOL...... i had no idea what he may have done to the boat, but figured for certain something was f'd up and he needed help!

Precision Marine does very good work, IMO.

I've never had the pleasure to meet you, but you did a guy that I know's TG, previously on Lake Travis (Austin), TX. Since, it sold to another buddy whom raced (still sometimes races) it.

Haven't heard anything but good stuff about your motors/service/integrity etc......

Joe

502stang 12-17-2008 03:14 PM

Mark at Precision is the best around!! He is also down to earth and easy to deal with and doesn't screw you on the price!! I can't say enough good stuff about him!!!

Boats unlimited 01-02-2009 01:01 AM

I have heard good things about Gary Talyor at TPI performance inc. He is a Fireman and builds only fuel injection marine motors.

oreo11zeus 01-04-2009 01:07 PM

Detonation - Azm

Oh yeah coast me two engines - Burn holes in the pistons after 5 minutes. They say they are the authority on the ECM software, I sent them all my specs for a 572 bored and stroked 500 EFI - used their injectors, Map sensor and throttle body kit - The result FAT idle, LEAN everywhere else - Nice guys but they don't have a good standing with me. It cost me about $12K in two rebuilds - you should see my brand new JE pistons after 10 minutes - NEVER MAIL ORDER an ECM for tuning - Dyno it PERIOD - then water test, plug check and do it locally

fotoboy 07-07-2009 12:29 AM

yup, dealing with them for over a year on a very bad tune for my 500 hp. def not good to deal with these guys. I sent the ecu back twice and still having issues w just getting the engine to run right

No Arizona Speed And Marine

These guys built three motors for me, shipped my boat back, one motor had blown head gasket. Looked into the problem and they used too long of headbolts in all three motors. They rigged the water lines wrong and all three motors were running way to hot for blower motors. They offered NO help and said NO Warranty. Had too rebuild all three motors at Sterling. Sterling came to the lake with me and dialed them in. The boat runs great now. Sterling are the guys to build your your motors. They are a class act and also stand behind their work. I would never do any business with ASM. They are the worst company in the industry I have ever dealt with.
