How fast do you have to be going for something like this to happen?

At high speeds when you hit a wake, what causes the boat to react like that?

How big of a wave/wake would cause an accident like this?

It happens everytime there is a mis-hap.
And it's tiring.
Everyone feels the need to blame it on something.

Let's just say something F-ed up. Glad no one was killed. And I hope a speedy recovery.

1) It doesn't take much speed.
2) Improper trim, or bad read of the wake/wave.
3) Not as big as you'd think, hit it wrong and a 2'er could do it.

I'm not an expert, and would never claim to be - just an opinion.

Let's just say something F-ed up.

Or someone F-ed up. People are too quick to blame a boat builder or water conditions rather then themselves.

I see it all day long. Stay far enough away from the other boats so you can't read the person capacity plate

1) It doesn't take much speed.
Driver error - should have been going slower
2) Improper trim, or bad read of the wake/wave.
Driver error - Driver doesn't know how to have hsi own boat trimmed for conditions
3) Not as big as you'd think, hit it wrong and a 2'er could do it.
Driver error - If it's unknown you should have been going slower or stayed farther back from the other boat

Yep - that's exactly what I was trying to say.

I really didn't mean to start this cycle of the thread, in fact, my intentions were to avoid it. I'm tired of every accident turning into a finger pointing game.
Something, or Someone F-ed up. It happens everyday.
I just hope the guy is alright.

Hope he is OK with no serious injuries.

I wonder what MPH high speed is?

The accident that happened on Lake Travis a number of weeks ago the news reported the boat was at high speed. Later the report said he was going 40mph.

On this lake I get passed all the time when I am running 40 by just about any boat, big cruisers and performance boats.
