Texas parks & WL has their test on line. You also may take a practice run at it.

Worth the effort.

Some insurance companies offer a discount for passing one of the recognized tests.

Man that was the most basic test I have seen. This test in no way should make ANYONE feel they have the ability to operate a boat.

WA State requires every operator of a marine vessel take a minimum 8hr training course then a test. The end result is a card that is mandatory to operate a vessel. It's a PITA but it is applicable to what you should know.

I aced it. The carbon monoxide question was especially useful because for years, anytime a skank had a "headache", I took them right back to the dock as fast as possible. Now I have verifiable justification!. I may have saved a life or two! Lol!

Should mandatory for anyone operating a boat, anywhere...

Ohio Law: If you were born after 1981 and you operate a boat greater than 10 horsepower, Ohio law requires you to have boater education.

My oldest son grew up behind the wheel of some big house boats and never had the class, until at age 24 when wanted to take dads toy out with some buddies. I made him take the online class and test that same day for insurance purposes. DNR in our area will check ya if you even look under 40....
