I have no idea why no states require a boating exam and driving test (Just like a drives license) before buying a boat or driving a boat for that sake.

Boating is the leisurely activity of traveling by boat, or the recreational use of a boat whether powerboats, sailboats, or man-powered vessels (such as rowing and paddle boats), focused on the travel itself, as well as sports activities, such as fishing or water skiing. It is a popular activity, and there are millions of boaters worldwide.

Thanks for the info, I've been trying to figure out what boating was.

Try this one, https://elearning.boatus.org/catalog/?id=1 something we all could benefit from. I retook it last year and got a couple wrong, still ended up in the nineties. One was a channel marker cant remember the other.

yes, an easy test, but that can't be it. The Washington State test has something like 6 or 7 sections and has something like 60-100 questions. It was still pretty easy if you reviewed the material.

Probably good states are starting to enforce this stuff, I see a lot of unqualified boaters out there.

I think there should be a practical exam as well. It would be a blast to go out and give an enforcement officer a real ride.
