Caribbean Scenery and Fun!

Thought I would start a thread that we could post some misc. photos of scenery and fun we all have in the area. Residents and visitors alike. These first few are of around Saba Rock in the BVI both in the water and from our wooden launch.

Tiger Fun (not Cigarette)

These are pics a friend of mine from St Thomas sent me a few weeks or so ago of their fishing trip off the North Drop which is North of STT and Tortola. They had a big grouper on the line and this Tiger shark decided he wanted it. Swimming anyone?

Just a few more scenery shots I had handy. One of three octopus that live in the coral behind Saba Rock. The other two are beach shots from Anegada.

I have many pics that I would like to share from my trips last year and again this year when I went " down island ". As I have time, I will post my favorite pics from Puerto Rico, USVI & BVI, St Maarten, St Bart's Anguilla, Antigua, FWI, St Lucia, the active volcano at Montseratt, and St Kitts.

That is in front of the "Chat n Chill" near Georgetown, Exumas, Bahamas on our way to BVI.

Few more pics of Chat n Chill. Talk about a cool beach bar !! Pics 1 & 2 by Bob; guest book pic by Jay. He has such an eye for things ! I did not even notice them till he sent me the pic. Amazing stuff.

Anegada, BVI

5 Attachment(s)
As mentioned I will post some of my pics of various islands in the Caribbean over time. This is Anegada. It is about 12 miles north of the North Sound area. It is really quite different from the rest of the BVI. It is made up of sand and coral and is not mountainous like the rest of BVI but flat and low lying. It is more like the islands of the Bahamas. The lobster out there at Cow Wreck Beach is unbelievably great. Enjoy. :)

Ah, Jay has the kind of scenery figured our your looking for. LOL
I have lots and lots of Bahama pics. I want to post up various Islands throughout the Caribbean over time and will get to it before long. I love the Bahamas. Some of of most gorgeous beaches and water to swim and boat in you will find anywhere in the world. And it starts less than an hour off the Florida coast and easily accessed. Stay tuned and yes I can mix in a few girly pics too. LOL

9 ft beam and that day with 11 on board we needed every inch of it ! LOL This year on one particular leg of the poker run we had 14 on board. Too funny and too much fun.

FuelinAround 06-07-2011 04:29 PM

LOL for sure. Pay to ride ??? Make money ??? That must be a new concept that I had not heard of yet. LOL I don't mind a bit and am glad to share the fun. For some it is pretty special and even a once in a lifetime experience they will never forget. It's all good.

BBB, I don't think Jay saw your question so will answer on his behalf. That is the new Scrub Island Resort. It is just a mile or so north of Beef Island / Tortola airport. It was the first card stop and they were a major sponsor of the poker run. They dropped Jay of at the heliport and he rode with us the rest of the day. A gorgeous place but quite a departure from what you will normally see in BVI. You can pick up a 2 bedroom condo for just $ 2.5 mil LOL.

BBB725 06-07-2011 09:02 PM

Thanks Bob, your trips look awesome

Peter Island, BVI

5 Attachment(s)
This mornings scenery pics are from Peter Island. Peter Island has to be one of the best if not the best in the BVI. Later in the day I will post some more fun pics. Surely some others have some pics they would like to post ?? I'm sure I'm not the only one to visit the islands with a camera. Lets see your stuff ! :)

For those of us not as fortunate to be able to island hop, may I ask why you feel so strongly about Peter Island? Obviously I have not been there...

Thanks. Actually the closest Bahamian Island is Bimini and does not show on your map. Bimini is only 55 miles from a point half way between Miami and Ft Lauderdale. Good launch point is Haulover Park. Good ramp and trailer storage there. The new Bimini Bay Resort is absolutely gorgeous and worth visiting. From Bimini east for about 50 miles is the Bahama Bank. It is only about 8 to 15 ft deep and that beautiful aqua colored water. Really nice. Then from there another 50 mile deep water but somewhat protected crossing to Nassau.

Here are a few Bimini Bay Resort pics. Laptop goes where Bob goes. LOL Gotta stay connected. :)

Not much time now but short answer is they did such a nice job of building a high end resort and preserving the island feeling. Wood structures ( see pic ) as opposed to concrete and glass at Scrub Island, lots of vegetation and of coarse I like their hammock on the beach ! LOL

No time. I did think about driving her back to FL but in the end decided to ship. It is much easier on the return w the easterly trade winds behind you but our summer is so short in Canada figured I better get back up here and enjoy it while I can. Seems like I have been away a lot this year. :)
