HTRDLNCN 09-16-2010 03:14 PM

Very Nice!

30ctsutphen 09-20-2010 11:52 PM

Nice looking ride.

They always remind me allot of a sutphen hull

glenncal1 09-21-2010 09:40 AM

How does it ride in the rough stuff? Nice looking boat, like the original graphics.

HTRDLNCN 09-21-2010 12:35 PM

Dont know about twin small blocks but mine with a single big block
rides like a much bigger boat which in fact it is.
The 27 is actually the same famous 30 Carrera hull with a 3ft plug in the mold to shorten it to 27 (actually 26'9')

nice boat. new owner?

kreed 09-23-2010 07:57 AM

Boat is very nice. Actually rides better than a single. Weight is distributed more evenly w/ 2 small blocks. My single tended to "walk" alittle at 75 MPH . This boat is just more stable, all the time. Over waves, WOT,or in flat water. I think Mark has owned this boat for about 5 years now, maybe more.

HTRDLNCN 09-23-2010 01:44 PM

What speed is he running? Most twin stock 350 27s were in the mid 60s, at that speed the
hull is very stable. Its once you start going 70+ that it gets loose.
Intresting that it rides better, should actually be worse since the weight is away from the centerline whereas the single has the weight dead center which inherently should make it land level compared to a side by side twin.
Mine walks a bit at top speed (69) but thats to be expected on a 25deg V trimmed up, I also dont have any tabs at all. X dimension and prop selection also changes where it "walks"
A deep drive tends to chinewalk more because its trying to lift entire boat.
I personally dont like the twins in the 27 is there is little room to work between the motors even with smallblocks.
Be cool to build one with a pair of the Raylar LS 550 engines,
1100hp total with the same weight would be a hella fast ride!..

quicklt1 09-23-2010 03:36 PM

tell him to loose the bimini..what does he think it is a Mako???

kreed 09-24-2010 10:31 AM

I believe the boat runs just below 80 MPH. 400 HP each.

I used to own the black 27, it is a NICE boat. I actually started a thread about it here in the Carrera forums a couple yrs ago when I was selling it. They are great boats. Looking forward to a fun summer on the river! You guys ever go to Claudios at all?

seaman 03-30-2011 09:19 AM

oh yeah that is a beautiful boat i remember it was for sale at ocean performance a while ago im either gonna do a complete overhaul on my 24 or would like to find a 27.we never went to claudios we usually go to the pavillion.

seaman 03-30-2011 09:31 AM

Yes, Under Pressure was mine. Guy in Haddam bought it , so it will still be on the river. Thanks, it is a clean boat. Ended up buying a 40ft Hawk that will be at the same marina this year. Did you do anything to yours this winter?

Sick Stinger 04-01-2011 06:35 PM

Seaman ill run down the river with you.
-Mike

seaman 04-01-2011 09:29 PM

no didnt do anything yet might pull the motor next to freshen it up it has merlin cast iron marine heads i changed the single plane intake to dual plane and the holly 750 double pumper to the edlebrock 750 marine carb for better gas the guy i bought it off said the motor puts out 425hp and ran 70mph but i couldnt get it passed 60 plus i want to have the motor dynod to see the real numbers.sick stinger you should def come out this summer there not that many carreras i see in ct

HTRDLNCN 04-01-2011 10:16 PM

24 Carrera's ran 60+ with stock 330/454 and a TRS so either the guy lied to you big time or there is something wrong with the setup.
Do you have pics of your boat? Would love to see it!

Sick Stinger 04-02-2011 06:40 AM

Sea i get down as often as possable, or as much as they will let me. Im what your call a PITA of CPBA
-Mike

seaman 04-03-2011 09:14 PM

stinger what does your engine hatch measure cause i got a 2 inch gap between the back seat and hatch on mine and dont think it came from the factory like that and annoys me i would appreciate it thanks

Sick Stinger 04-03-2011 09:32 PM

Il se what I can get for measurments tomorrow. I was at Harbor Park today to pick up a set of lowers for a friend. I think Im selling the Carerra and thinking of the PAPA Dukes race boat

27 carrera on ebay with twin blown small blocks if anyone is intrested

viper15 10-08-2016 06:12 AM

The 27 with the blown small blocks was mine. I have been in morning since the sale. I just Bought another 27 with twin MPI's. Its All white with Red Silver and Black Graphics. Its an Ex APBA race boat rigged originally by MRD of long island. NO cabin at all. These boats are the best ! 27 years old and offshore raced and all the stringers bulkheads and Tabbing look as if they just came from the mold. This one will be getting a pair of 500 or so hp small blocks. Should be getting this into the 90's and revitalize the Carrera name !

They were built well and continue to be awesome rides.

1989 SS8M.. going with SBC as well.

Yes it has a pair of small blocks and bravos hopefully going to get through the next season with these stockers and build something for the following year.

They are awesome boats and will always be considered great offshore rides. The classic lines are what set the SS8M apart from most boats. Twin 500HP, will definitely get you in the 90's easy..

Carrera boats have never been forgotten.

Enjoy,
Joe

viper15 10-11-2016 06:01 AM

I definitely will. As soon as its up and running i will be posting a bunch of pictures of this one and my old boat..
Thanks
Frank

viper15 10-21-2016 04:05 AM

I would like to see some pics as well. Some info in the boat as well, Engines, drives condition

herc321 11-07-2016 07:20 PM

Hi I'm looking for some help. I'm buying a carrera 27 center console with a single ob on a bracket. I'm going to switch the bracket and go with twins. Does anyone know the outboard power rating of this hull?

viper15 11-07-2016 09:40 PM

You can put whatever engines your wallet will allow. I have seen 2 300xs on a cc. Mine has twin smallblocks bravos and big k planes. Thats more weight then 2 outboards.
