im taking a buddy of mine to purchase a 1987 251 w/ 454 mag just wondering a few things.

top speed on gps

do they porpose like the older 24 outlaws

how are they in rough water

overall quality

251's are very nice boat. I owned a 242 and loved the boat. They are build solid and handle Lake Michigan water well for their size. That boat should run in the mid 60's. My 242 did porpoise at low cruiser speeds, but that can be corrected with the right trim and tab adjustments. The 251 is way more boat than a 24 outlaw. By the way, I love the look of the late 80's and early 90's 251, they are a sweet looking boat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My 1999 251 with the HP500 will run 78 GPS. Probably would run 80 with a labbed prop. Also handles the rough water well becasue it has a narrow beam. My boat is for sale, check it out in the classified.
