Need some help from present or past 251 owners. I'm having a new engine built for my 1991 251 Convincor which will include a 10 Qt Canton pan. The old engine was a 454 Magnum with what I believe was a 6 Qt pan (the engine held 7 qts which included all lines/coolers etc). I'm wondering what kind of pans have been used for larger engines and will this pan fit in my boat? Was hoping someone remembered how much room there was. Thanks

Will need to know the dimensions of the Canton pan relative to stock. There is lots of room for additional depth and length of the deep sump, but room for added width would be the concern.

The pan is 2" deeper than stock, but the same width. I'm pretty sure it will fit, but wanted to check to see what others were using on theirs. Thanks

I have an 89 251 with a 502 and a stock pan that I could measure the clearence if you think we have the same bilge. Might give you some sort of idea. I have the back seat out and it would be easy to crawl in there right now.

I can but not for a few days. It's raining right now (boat's covered) and I'm taking my daughter camping tomorrow through the weekend. If Monday isn't too late.
