Question ZT 280 questions

Hey guys,
A friend of mine has a 2001 or 2002 ZT 280. He's running a bone stock 415hp 502 and an out of the box 24 pitch bravo one. The best speed the boat has seen is 62mph gps. Does this sound about right for this set up? It seems like the boat struggles with bow lift, alot of the boat is in the water at speed. What is the best prop to run on this boat? What speeds or other people seeing with there ZT280's? Thanks for the any and all info.
LF

Seems to be pretty normal. buddy of mine has the same boat, same power, same prop. He never GPS's it, but he says the speedo reads 65+ mph (which is more likely lower 60's.)

You can also tell him to call the Factory and ask for Mike in parts. he was always very helpful when I was asking setup questions about my 253 checkmate. Checkmate (419) 562-3881.

I have a 99 ZT 280 with a 500efi blue motor. I can tell my boat runs 68-69 gps all day long no matter the load, passengers or fuel level. The best I have seen is 71 gps, that was with 4 large passengers, 70 degree air temp and cold water on lake Michigan with a 3/4 tank of gas. I spin a worked 24 bravo 5150-5200. I am not sure what was done to the prop, it was done by the previous owner. My boat seems to have plenty of bow lift, but I have not watch it run from shore yet. I would think 62 is pretty close with a 502 mag. I would personally like to try a 26 bravo lab, but I have not found one to borrow yet.

Hope this helps,

MM

Thumbs up Re: ZT 280 questions

OK guys, thanks for the input. I'll recommend getting the prop labbed and see if we can't squeeze another mile or two out of it.
Thanks again, LF
