nsreeve... where did you get your offshore motor mounts? I'm guessing it's quite a bit of work to install them. Do the motors have to be pull completely?

Also, have you seen any options for the engine hatch hinges? They definitely look underbuilt. Seems like someone's Checkmate had some kind of aftermarket work done there. I'll research.

My hatch is also bowed and I'm not sure why. My guess is too much moisture at some point, but the boat checked out good on a hull moisture check. I need to figure out some way to flatten it out.

The mounts came from the factory, but yes i would imagine you would at least have to have something holding the engine while you swap them.

As for the engine hatch, mine is bowed too which makes it impossible to add extra hinges. What we did was pulled the padding up and put plates with nuts welded to them to hold the bolts. But as for the hinge attached to the hull, we contiuously have to keep filling them in and using these washers the we implanted into epoxy where the hole was reemed out through wear and tear.
Lemme know if you find anything else out about hinges, they are a major annoyance in the Ozarks due to the rough weekends

My boat is fairly optioned out, but I didn't see the offshore motor mounts on the list. I assume they're not there, but I'll take a look and see. I found some offshore motor mounts on a marine website and it looked like they were a big 1-piece design instead of being separate mounts. Is that what yours are like? Any pics of these mounts on a Checkmate?

Thanks again.

These mounts are large L brackets with I believe 6 bolts that bolt to the block, i'm not exactly sure what original mounts look like, but i will take some pictures shortly
Where did you find the mounts you were talking about?

Keytime,

Here is a pic of 500efi in my old ZT. If you look closely you can see the mounts.

That is wierd you guys are having issues with your hatches. I owned 2 Checks, 97 242 Convincor and a the ZT and never had an issue with the hatch. My buddy runs a 97 single 283 Convincor and he doesn't have any problems with his either. We boat on Lake Michigan and its not what I would call calm water.

did both have dual hinges? i think they all did anyways, we deal with the everywhich directions waves on LOTO with the rock walls that reflect everything back. We have tried everything and they always loosen up and reem themselves out of the hull

All three boats had the dual hinges. Not trying to start a pissing match, but I have boated on LOTO not nearly as rough as a bad day on the big lake. I do agee the washing machine waves are a pain and are hard to read. I wish it wasn't such a far drive as I would like to come down there more often.
