The Checkmate section has been dormant for a while so I thought I'd wake it back up with my side project. The boat is a 1990 Checkmate Starflite with a Mercury Pro XB250. I just had the motor rebuilt with new rings, the #6 hole bored .15 over. With 11.5" of setback and the propshaft dead even with the keel I'm running 78mph @ 5800rpm turning a Mercury Trophy Plus 27 @ 5800 rpm. I'm going to raise the motor on the jackplate, swap out the helm for a SeaStar Pro 2.0 helm and try a Sportmaster gear case. With some prop changes I should be able to get the boat to run mid 80's!

2011 Pulsare 21 ft LD. 2010 Merc 250ProXS Torque master lower running 1.5 inches below the pad. Stock 27 inch Fury. 12 inch set back bracket plus about 5 inch for the jackplate. Runs 82mph any day. Have seen 84mph GPS a few times.

Where do you boat in Ohio? I'm at Alum every weekend and would love to take a look at your setup and meet another fellow checkmate owner..

After installing the SeaStar 2.0 helm I got the boat to run 79.49mph GPS @ 5900rpm while at River Ranch a few weeks ago..and that was flat sticky water and 90 degree temps!!
