And your words, you like the new center console Checkmate, why would I even doubt that being it came from a Baja mold too. I don't see you talking about the new 2400, 2400 BR and the wake tower Checkmate, maybe its because it came out of a Checkmate mold not a Baja mold.

If your really tring to help Checkmate maybe you should promote all the Checkmates they make instead of just the ones that came from Baja molds.

I could care less what kind of boat you choose to own but I own a Checkmate because that's the style I like.

And if the salvation of Checkmate relies solely on reproduced baja's then I could care less if Doug sinks again.

Have I ever NOT shown respect for Checkmate?

There are 20 + sections here on brands that I don't go on because I don't own the brand and have nothing to contribute. I don't disrespect them by not posting do I?

In the case of Checkmate our paths crossed and I was happy with what I saw them doing and I wanted to talk about it. Everything I have posted has been positive about the new boats and the older boats. The first time I toured the plant I was so impressed with everything I saw and Dean can confirm that. And that was long before I had ever heard of any boats being built from Baja molds. Just to set the record straight I was impressed with the true original Checkmate models. I simply had very limited exposure to Checkmate and now that I am learning more about them I am impressed.

As for the center console I have been wanting one for some time now to cruise the ICW. I have no idea about the hull on that boat. Did Checkmate ever offer a center console? Are you totally against them offering anything different?

I not sure the problem you have with me but it is your problem not mine.

Happy Boating

Hey one other thing I want to mention is that Barry aka Sidewinder-Boats and Ken Putnam have also done a lot of work and R & D on the in gel graphics. Sorry to leave those guys out. There is a lot of talent up there at Checkmate.

Not many frills pretty much just biz, there main issue I saw as a previous owner is that the rigging left alot of the table that could have been improved! Checkmate will need to step up there game if they want to compete in the 30' plus class, there are alot of great establish boat builders who have this class cover very well with lots of options to choose from.

my humble .02
I never heard complaints on rigging please explain

Newsflash!

Checkmate have always acted as a semi-custom builder.

So in essence, you've been able to spec whatever rigging you want for years.

What they have done in the past, is they have offered up standard rigging as the entry price point and then if an owner wants something as an upgrade they do it for a price. By offering the boats this way, it gives buyers a lower opening price and the option for more bling for a dollar if that's what they want. Owners have even bought stuff aftermarket and sent it to the factory for install during the build.

Kinda makes sense - don't ya think?

It's sorta like buying a car...

It does to me and I like that way of doing business. I always thought that Baja made a mistake by not offering upgrades in this form. I remember when we ordered the 36 and wanted some color in the cuddy and we got the deer in the head lights stare.

I thought he was talking about engine, drives, and steering that's what I assumed rigging ment. As Checkmate-Chris says Checkmate will put any kind of bling bling in a boat that a customer wants even in the gel work.

news flash,
i didnt know this, and im sure most people didnt know this. maybe on the site they should say custom ordered boat are avalable. i know they offer you a color choice, but had no idea they would rig a boat with monster guages, different interior, custom graphics, finished cockpit floor etc etc. thats very good to know because my next boat will probably have to be a custom ordered boat due to the fact im looking to go 30-33 foot with a single 700 or something like that. that said no one makes one, so i would need a custom boat built. having good luck with my mate would definetly put them on my list to call when the time comes for a 30 convincer, or if they do a 32 or 34 that is checkmate not baja, i would 100% put them on my list for a custom boat.

they should advertise this however, as im sure they could scoop some more buyers that way. they could do a whole BK thing. "have it your way"
