Well, Ive been "lurking" on this board for a little while and decided to take the plunge and sign on.
I own a 1991 Checkmate 229 w/ 502 Mag. I will try to attach a picture of it, once I get this figured out.
Enjoy hearing about other owners and the Mods/tests they have made.

mate229,
The 502 has had a little porting done along with cam work and some internal work. Using the WAG method, I'd guess around 450-475HP.There is more work that could be done to squeeze extra HP out of this motor. However, I enjoy the fact that I can go to the boat, turn the key and know that it will run all summer long without problems. The boat is fast for the size. I do enjoy surprising others who like to "run".
