Jersey Devil had a fleet of twin outboard vees when I bought my Tbred and may still have them. I thought I remembered the boat having twin 225 pms'. If that was the case I would have thought it would run in the 70s'.

most were in the 60's. For sure the pleasure versions were.
I seem to remember a guy restoring one yrs back though that I believe had a cuddy and was into low 80's w/two stout 2.5's.
It may have been a light weight hull too.
Thinking FreezeFrame or one of the photog guys had a pleasure version that was claiming high 70's if not 80 but I'd have to see it.

I must have misread it, I was assuming he meant THIS one, I missed the "power" part of "power and props"

If all goes well, I'll be the owner of a 28' twin outboard Checkmate also! Working on finalizing the details!

sharkey had the boat. it was a 281 maxxum with 260s. his hull is a lot heavier though. if you search 281 maxxum w/2.5 efi offshores you will find the post here.

Good luck 2ton. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. Let us know how it runs and how you like it. I had a Thouroughbred with twins as my first performance boat. You really had to drive that boat at speed. What cat did you have?
