Default Mx2600 - twin 300r

MX2600 - TWIN 300R

I found this on the checkmate-boats.com forums!!
I think it is awesome that Checkmate is doing another large outboard boat. I have always liked the 2800 OBX

quote from the post on it:

"It’s cool to see something new come out of the factory! Checkmate says low 80’s without “dialing” it in yet. Also saw the price for that one as rigged is in the $180,000 range."

EDIT:
I do have to question the pricing point on it. I am sure it is priced on what they think they can get for it based on other manufactures prices.

I see the price clarification on the checkmate forums: starting price: $144k for a MX 2600 with twin 300R's.

From Checkmate (Facebook). “Retail price of this boat as it sits with the options is $180,637”

So, the show boat must have $35k in LOTS of extras.

Hard for us average guys to get into new boats with all the prices climbing so high!!!

It is a very cool boat and should be all over 90+ mph when they finish with prop testing.
I tried to post the pictures of it, but could not, or don't know how to get them. I am sure one of you know how, and can post some. They are on the checkmate forum and on Checkmate FB pages.
thank you,

Entry price for the new MX-2600 with Twin Mercury 225XL is 136,913$ and runs in the low 70s. Not bad!

Website has a starting price a little bit cheaper but that looks like a single 400R price. The twin 225's would make a nice package for a sensible price. Very nice looking boat, I'm envious.

This is a really nice looking outboard sport boat! I have an older Velocity 280 that I am going to be looking to sell and want to get a new dual OB in the same size range. I'd love to see this style Checkmate in the MX2800 size. They have it listed on the website but no recent pictures so I'm assuming they have yet to complete a new one or are still in the works of redesign to this new style. I know that Velocity also will make a 2x OB 30' model but they do not advertise it at all on their website which I think is a big fail. The only other similar sized and nice looking boat is an Active Thunder but with them trying to sell the business I am not sure where they are at with taking new orders or new development.

It's great to see Checkmate updating their style with these MX models and moving to the outboard market. I can't wait to see more reviews and pictures as I am seriously considering one of these in the next 1-2 years.

the MX2800 is just a cut down 300 Convincor hull (better hull IMO). I believe they could pop you one of those any time you wanted. The 260 is the old Baja hull splash but the Checkmate construction method (lighter) made it a far better and faster version than any of the Baja-made ones I am told. Same with the ZT244 (Old Baja H2X), I have a friend with one and it boogies for what it is.

I like the styling of the 2600 but the MX2800 isn't bad either although it looks in the pictures like it is a bit more shallow and definitely narrower. I'm assuming that either one would handle choppy water about the same as my Velocity 280. I guess the question really is what the pros and cons are between the MX2600 and MX2800 hull since they look quite a bit different. I'd be most concerned with which one had the most comfortable and stable ride as well as which one had more cockpit room.
