Default Winter modifications, who's tested

Anyone out there who has had an early sea trial after modifying the power? How did it go? Checkmate454mag do you have any water time with the 540? Does it feel like the same boat?

Vinny said his boat will be in storage till May 1st. Mine will hit the water this weekend if the docks are in. Can't wait to test the shorty Bmax, maximus prop, 380S tabs, and GGB Mufflers.

We did not modify the power this winter, a little slim on funds. However, we did buy some new carpet for our 2000 259 Convincor and opted for the lay in style (from Checkmate) as opposed to the snap in that came with the boat. Does anyone have the lay in style carpet sold by Checkmate? If so, how do you like it?

I can't wait till May 1. This bit of warm weather here is making it difficult but I have no choice. I will post results as I get them.

Dave,

I know what you are thinking, but take it easy on me anyway.

well got the boat out with the 502 in it, ran 71.1 best on a cool day!!!
i think i need to get the prop(s) figured out, tried 3 different ones with no favorites as of yet!!! this is a 242 convincor, anyone ever weighed their boats, brochure says 3900 lbs., just wondering how much fuel and gear adds up. looking for 73-74 and gonna get it somehow!!!!!

I was able to really open up my new 496HO this past weekend for the first time. I was testing new props at the same time on my 1992 230 Enforcer and I was dissapointed in my top speed because of a severe chine walk. Regardless of the type of prop, the boat violently bounced from side 2 side at 73 GPS. I guess I'll try adding external steering to see if that helps.

External steering will solve that problem. After 70mph anything less than full hydraulic steering will not cut it, and is not very safe. Be careful until the new steering is on.
