Nice, my post before was refering to those first picutres that you posted, I thought it was like your boat and a before and after but I see your just posting alot of Chris Crafts now!!

Good work man I like the last 2 alot, I think they would look better without the big arch thought.

I've owned 2 Stingers and loved both of them..my first was a 26' t/SBC and the second was a 312.My friend bought it from the set"Tequila Sunrise". It had big 460's in it and those chitty King Cobra drives.Kept blowin' them off the back of the boat.
I still miss those boats and keep my eye open for one.I missed a Fittapaldi that was in SO FL..a couple years ago :( ...GREAT FORUM !!!

We took our arch off last winter. I was reluctant but my husband wasn't, after many people commented that it dated the boat. I must he admit he was right and it looked much better after we took the arch off.

We're doing more to it this winter (3rd project in 3 winters....re-did entire cabin winter '02, rebuilt motors winter '03 and now re-painting it with more improvements to cockpit/cabin area winter '04). Hopefully losing the deck vents....they've gotta be the biggest vents in boat history and they really date the boat. We took off the windshield and we're making our own faring(sp?), plus we're taking the cabin door off and doing that in a zippered vinyl so you're not hearing the constant pounding of the cabin door in 3-5 footers.

Not much left that's original on the boat, but we sure are happy with her.

Sounds good, I can imagine its alot nicer and cleaner looking and makes the boat appeal newer to the eye.

Do you have any before and after pics by a chance?

It definately looks more updated and cleaner. I'll scan the original look next week and post, plus what it looked like after Rob painted it the first time with the arch, and then what it looks like now (which is already posted in the owners forum thread).

Where are all the Chris Cats???? Heatbuzz, I almost bought that one when it was for sale in Ohio years back. :D

Re: Show your Chris Crafts

Not to many made. From what I have heard they were the toughest Cats made. They could handle any sea a mono hull could. Chris Craft made just about everything that floats back in the 80's, from stingers to mega yachts, trawlers to cuddy's, even sail boats. They sold the molds to someone who I'm not sure who and not sure if they are still being made.

Yep. As did OMC for a minute and Murray.
Mines a Murray.

Bob Kollotie might know where the molds went.

I'm not a hater.... I have an 87, but there are some pretty bad hulls out there in the mid-late eighties. From what I am told, the Murray glass crew had a perma-buzz from 1986-1989. Could be rumor, but my 87 has issues, so I am inclined to believe.

Shadow cats became Chris cats then Chris Craft sold them to American offshore ,T2X would know the complete story. I'll PM him and see if he will post some history for us...

I have a 1989 Chris Craft brochure that has 26, 33, 38, and 41 stingers in it that came with my boat. But I don't have a scanner.

Thanks Jer. You won't recognize her next summer when she's chuggin up the Lagoon. Totally new paint scheme, took the bow rails off each side to place down the center, new gauges, some cockpit updates and a few more small things here and there. It's been a lot of work this winter so far and we have a lot more to do, but we're excited to see the end result.

Rob will be taking some digital photos of our work in progress sometime this week and post in this section for everyone to check out.
