Default Winter Project Progress

Well, we've decided to repaint in addition to other improvements and wanted to show you guys where I was so far. It's only the sanding stage at this point. Bow is blocked straight along with the loss of all stainless hardware. Holes are all filled and sanded. Windscreen mold is built and will be laying glass in the next few weeks (and yes, my shoulders are sore ).

RHC will be definately glad to see the loss of hardware. Anyway, here they are and we'll post once the primer starts in 3-4 weeks.

What you see in the picture is the mold. The windscreen will be built off of that using cloth with a balsa core. It will be mounted to the boat using plexus. The windshield updates the boat quite a bit and I can't believe it's the same boat.

We are also making some custom side vents, replacing the stainless hardware ones. I have one made and need to make a total of 6. As soon as I get a couple mounted I'll post some pics.

Re: Winter Project Progress

That looks great with the form of the new winshield. Some more pics spoted from the cockpit please. So you are molding the plexus after the shape of the wood or what??
I may do the same with my 312 -89.

The wood is the basic shape that is underbuilt. The wood will be prepped with a mold release, a layer of cloth, layer of 1/2" balsa with 2 more layers of cloth on the outside. Inside will be the same except I'm only laying 1 layer of cloth vs 2. Once that is all laid up and everything is finished off, I wil bond the windscreen to the gunnel and across the bow with plexus.

What part of the US are you from Mange? There's a possibility you can use my mold after I'm done if we can figure something out, that's up to you.

You have any pics you can post?
