Why a gear drive for timing? I figured the harmonics from the drives would be hard on that?

Reinstalling the gear drives wouldn't be my first choice.

Looks good Russ.

Just a little side note I find it eaier to pull the trans with the motor. Alot less bending over the back of the motor getting those bolts off. you can slide it out with the drives on. But pull the drives before reinstalling them. You need to check the U-Joints anyway

Good catch on the head gasket. Could of been bad.

When you say bad, do you mean bad like a sunday morning hangoverheadache? Or bad like a broken leg from trying out your kid's snowboard? :drink:

OK somebody start talking about why gear drive cams are bad.
They have worked perfect for 300 + hrs. What issues do they present???? Thought they were less prone to fail then chains + more accurate.

Yes I see that Mark. That is the way I would do it next time. I do have plans to replace the u-joints. I started to have a small vib at the end of the season when turning that was not there before.

Did you get out on the water for a test run this weekend???
